Can anyone suggest a career path? * 1
    #19131767 - 11/13/13 03:21 PM (10 years, 3 months ago)

I have only graduated high school; might go to college someday but meh.

Looking for a career that I could stick with. Something tech would be interesting; like manufacturing chemicals, fixing wires, i don't fucking know. I hate thinking about his because I have no fucking clue what to do with my life.

There is always work for heating and A/C guys and the pay is pretty good here in Houston.  That would be a challenge for you.

You're never going to get a chemical manufacturing job without a college degree.

Without a degree, you should be looking for an apprenticeship or a trade school.  Otherwise make a list of your talents and try and start a business.

Is it true garbage men actually make pretty damn good money? I heard that somewhere.

By the way OP, what about truck driver? Sure it has some downside but you'd get to travel the country, have lots of time to think about shit, and get paid good money. And no boss physically hovering above and around you.

The idea is to take something you like and/or are good at, and find a way to get paid for doing it

My buddy does HVAC and he's been making $100k+ since 3-4 years after finishing school.  He's 27 and also owns two properties, one that he rents out and another that he lives in.  He's doing pretty damned well.  Trades are definitely something to consider.

6am? I think they start earlier than that.

It's not a bad job, good pay, benefits, retirement, and all that jazz.
One thing is as far as I have heard it's not easy getting one of those jobs. My friend wanted to do that and they basically told him to get some truck driving experience. So now he his a long haul trucker. Of course they might of told him that just to get him away, as he bugged them a lot for a job.

Have you ever done one of those job career tests? That might help you in finding a path.
