Proven Mead Recipe/Tek
    #19130802 - 11/13/13 11:23 AM (10 years, 2 months ago)

I'm in my second year of beekeeping and wondering if anyone has a good Mead recipe/tek?

Or could point me in the right direction.

Thanks
JR

Thjat's the first one I made.  It came out really sweet, but in the  case of this particular mead that's a good thing.

The Complete Meadmaker is one book.

Freshly picked blackberry mead was always the biggest winner.  Really ripe fruit in secondary ferment is the way to go for a "melomel" or fruit mead.

You can boil the honey, you can go raw, or you can get it heated up to about 140 using even hotter water.  I prefer the latter approach.  Gets the honey dissolved, kills bugs and enzymes and leaves the flavor pretty much intact.

After initial ferment, then you can transfer (rack) onto fruit for example.
