Small business ideas

Looking to start a business for around 125K. Need to start making profits asap. I looked into buying an existing laundromat or gas station with no luck. Obviously an established business is usually for sale because they're not doing too good.
I want something quick and recession resistant. Any ideas?

The best business to start is a service business. Trust me on this.

When you provide value to your community, only then will you be able to start reaping the rewards. Dont think in terms of profits either or the short-term b/c most businesses dont turn a profit for a while. I've been dreaming of the day I could open a Co-Op aquaponics farm that benefits my community with fresh, local food at a reasonable price. Everybody will continually need food! That is until we're all cyborgs one day Dont just jump into something on the fly, do you have any experience or business acumen? Have you developed a business plan? What are you good at?

Most new businesses fail within three years be sure you do your homework on what kind of service you want to provide. Also you probably won't turn a profit your first or second year of business just a heads up.

Yeah, if anyone comes up with a cheap, small business that is recession proof, will profit immediately and is guaranteed to profit, just let me know. I'll be right behind the OP.

Well its not actually for me. I know this woman who suffers from agoraphobia, ocd, and much more. So basically she doesnt leave her house which is a wreck but has tons of $ from inheritance by her farmer father, including LOTS of neglected farm land.
Anyway she listens to nothing but conservative radio all day so shes paranoid about obama care and losing all her $ because of an economy collapse. So shes looking to open something to make a quick 20-30k/year. But have me and my gf run/maintain it because she doesnt leave the house. So something for her to profit around 30k AFTER expenses and paying 2 full time employees.

That's a tall order. A 20% return on capital in the first year can only really be had in real estate development.
