Taking a break from pot

After 2 years of nearly daily use, I have decided to take a break and only smoke on the weekends. For the past two or three months I have smoked at least three times a day everyday.
Its going to be hard to slow down but I really need it. My grades are slipping and I just haven't felt "all there" I guess you could say. It doesn't help that the past few weeks have been really shitty. My grandpa passed away on Oct. 26, work has been busy as fuck and they've been giving me shitty hours, some kids from my school got in a fatal car accident the other day. Anyways, thats enough complaining.
Today is the first day of sobriety, so wish me luck. I didn't even think about it during the day, but now that its night time I'm really craving some good old reefer

You're confused, you need to smoke more not less.

good luck man. im on a non smoking phase too but it's not challenging for me as the last time i smoked was way intense. fun, but intense. anyways give it a week and you will not feel the cravings quite as much, then you get on a roll with it and it's np.

Blazing up only on weekends counts as sobriety?

I like this concept. When I fail my next piss test I'm going to tell my PO: "IT'S COOL BRO I ONLY SMOKED ON THE WEEKENDS".

I feel you, the first couple days suck then youre good. I dont smoke during the day, and Ive noticed that at night when Im bored is when I want to smoke the worst.

I wanted to start a tolerance break today, so I told one of my buddies. His initial reaction goes as the following.
Quote:
What!? I can't let you do that to yourself! I'm coming over tonight with 4 bags to sample and a few waxes. We'll make sure you don't give up on Mother Mary just yet.
Well fuck me, how am I supposed to turn that down?
Maybe tomorrow I'll start that break... maybe.

Luckily I have nobody drug testing me. I probably shouldn't have chosen the word sobriety I suppose. Still, quitting on weekdays will still be hard, especially since I used to smoke to get to sleep.
@g00ru, yeah the fact that my tolerance will go down is definitely a plus haha. Thanks man.

A friend with weed is a friend indeed Good luck with that haha. My friend wanted to smoke tonight too. But he wanted to smoke my weed. So it was easier to turn him down :P

Ya I quit for a few months when I moved to a different state.
It just sucks not being able to sleep when you first quit, but your dreams get a lot more vivid.
It gets easier though.
And it's good to take a break every once in a while.

please make it through the first 3 or 4 days, after that it gets way better. and the longer a break you take the bigger mind clarity (and the more FRIED youre gonna be next time you smoke)

I have stopped because it drove me crazy, true story. ( been like 3 or 4 months and it feels like eternity haha )
I've never been happier, but I drink more often and in great quantities , I'm not a paranoiac anymore

I switched from smoking during the day ( to smoking at night. Makes me incredibly lazy) to not smoking at all unless someone offers which I'm always down to smoke.
Switch to smoking only at night. It's a logical first step.

Good luck, I wish you the best! Like quitting any drug, at first the cravings will be stronger, but they will ease as time goes on. I think part of the cravings that daily pot users get when they quit is that it was very habit forming, and you just get used to it. I think this holds true more so than with any other drug I've done.
