Anyone on here play illegally from the US using IP masking software etc?
Just wondered as when they banned US players the numbers didn't drop off at the tables at all.
Also how many poker players are there in general among you guys and gals??

Watching poker, makes me wish I knew how to play.
I've played a couple times, but I see 25 year old guys in the Poker championship on TV winning millions of dollars.

Exactly... doesn't make you curious to learn? You can win some decent money for very low stake buy-ins.
Couple of dollars could win you $10,000's...

Good fun too, and it's great exercise for the brain. There are a lot of different styles, not all pro players are mathematical geniuses. A lot of it is to do with reading the game, other players and experience. Plus luck, that does come in handy too, though the only reason I play is because it's about the only "gambling" where skill plays a major role.

Poker was never allowed in my house growing.
Not because my parents disagreed with gambling, but because it reminded my dad of jail

That's a new one, never heard that reason given before. Not being sarcastic, I can imagine gambling inside leads to a lot of problems/negative memories and connotations for sure.

He's said that cards and dominoes were the only ways to pass the time, and so he refuses to see us waste time on the "outside" fooling with it.

Yeah, you gotta commit time and money if you wanna make a living from it.. But a Saturday night with a couple of beers, few buddies and $5-10 each is a good, social way to spend an evening.
Not trying to convince anyone to take up gambling, know some people who have had some really serious addictions, roulette and random bullshit like that, it can tear the life and soul outta you.
Know a friend who got ripped ogg buying a KG of pot to flip when he had some debt issues, he tried to make his money back by sticking £6,000 ($10,000ish) on a single spin of online roulette, shoulda listened to Wesley Snipes: always bet on black, he went for red, sucka...

I don't really play online because I prefer face-to-face, I like NLH house games. Damnit now I'm going to go to a game tomorrow, it's been a couple weeks.
Just realized that I forgot to watch the WSOP final table, too!
Poker is the only form of gambling I do too OP, I only started after I saw how it is clearly skill based. Best game ever!
