Chlorophyll Molybdites or Psilocybin Cubensis
    #19127968 - 11/12/13 06:29 PM (10 years, 2 months ago)

An old Vietnam Veteran tweaker gave me these shrooms to sell for him and said that he has tried them before and they were good to eat. I've had chlorophyll Molybdites before and almost died. They don't taste or smell like them but I'm just double checking with anyone who has knowledge about this stuff. I've tripped before but they were different shrooms. Thanks to all who can answer!

I'm not sure what those are, but I don't think those are Psilocybe cubensis.  They could be Chlorophyllum, it might help to take clearer pictures of the cap surface outside of the bags.  Either way, they don't look good to eat or even in good condition, I strongly advise against giving them to anyone to eat.

The shaggyness of the cap strongly points to Chlorophyllum. Certainly not cubes. I suggest asking your source to test-run them on himself before trying to poison others. No, not really, I wouldn't advocate anyone eat those.

If the only two choices are Chlorophyllum molybdites or Psilocybe cubensis, then you have the former. However, they are very old and dried out which is not conducive to accurate identification. They may be something completely different. They do not at all look psychoactive, however.

They look like dried Chlorophyllum molybdites to me.  Meet up with him and tell him you fronted the person the mushrooms, and he was going to pay you but he shat himself to death.

Glad you had the sense to come here.

But he deserves to have his head fucked with muchly.  I'd tell him customer is on life support and the coppers are pressuring you.  That ought to make him disappear.  LOL

Wishful IDing? Confirmation bias?

Either someone is messing around here, or you guys are awful at ID'ing dried specimens, in crappy low lit photos, inside of bags; but it's OK in my book to err on the side of caution.

No, they are certainly not active, either he's making a bad joke, they are not C. molybdites, but maybe another Chlorophyllum species or something else, or possibly he's one of the lucky people that have eaten C. molybdites and not ended up poisoning himself which does happen occasionally.

I remember reading a story where 4 people ate the same batch of C. molybdites and ended up experiencing different symptoms, one was fine, one was slightly sick, one was pretty sick, and one was very sick...  I also recall reading that Arora ate them a few times before poisoning himself.
