Congrats on your new purchase.  There are many soil/potting/lighting teks around here.  The helpful links sticky has a bunch of them.

I personally get an over sized unglazed clay pot and drill holes in the bottom with a mason bit.  For soil I use something humus rich and sift the big stuff out.  Mix that with about 50% perlite.  I use coir in my mix also.  I also like to add dolomite lime, rock powder, and worm castings.  The end product is like a soil that feels silky and full of air.  It is hard to explain.  I prefer to use very rich soil with trichs.

Would not water for a week after potting.  I would also give it full sun in the morning and shade in the late afternoon.  Good luck!

Wut he said except I don't drill extra holes in my clay pots and I use a premium store bought cactus soil.
OP- do you live in a climate where it gets real cold and/or wet in the winter? You may need to overwinter indoors.

I'd probably keep it in a spot outside where it gets good solid morning sun and is shielded from the intense afternoon sun. Try to keep it on the dry side- not sure how wet your winters are- maybe under an eave or something. I'd just bring it inside if below freezing temps are forecasted.

Depends on where you live... How much sun you get
I have mind dormant in the winter... No light

Make sure you plant it deep enough... Can use some chop sticks to keep it upright until it roots
Cactus mix at the store is ok... Can add some clean swans if you have it

Don't over water...
