Identification help, please
    #19126668 - 11/12/13 02:21 PM (10 years, 2 months ago)

I found a ton of these in a grass field in Dallas, Oregon. (Near Salem) I just picked this one so far as was wondering what it might be for sure.  I'm completely brand new at identification so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Again, I'm completely new so if I pasted the code for the picture wrong, I apologize.

I am guessing Mycena sp. But please wait for a TI.

Thank you both for the quick responses.  Looks like more hunting later this afternoon.

I found this picture while searching common oregon mushrooms.  This is exactly what I am looking at in the field.  There must be hundreds. I thought I'd submit this one because its better than the one I took.

Put your picture up. We are going to need to see what you actually have.

My picture is in the first post of the thread.  It's about 30 min after picking so it dried a little and turned darker brown. Here's a couple more from in the field.

Those are a very likely a different species from the one pictured above that you
got from the internet. I think they are.

Please come here with all of your finds until you are well practiced in identification.

We do not want you to get sick.

That's why I'm here.  I have no intention of doing anything until they are ID'd.  Any thoughts on the last 2 pictures I posted?

Oh! They are a Mycena species most likely.

A picture of the gills would help a lot.

This is the best picture of the gills that I could manage with my phone.

Now I am confused. That looks like a different species now.

The mushrooms in the grass have grey stems and this has a yellow stem.

I do not think they are the same.

It's picked from that group.  They start to turn darker as soon as i pick them.

Maybe a Mycena, Psathyrella mixed patch? I see it all the time.
