Newbie grow questions

I have been given six fully colonized horse manure jar cakes. I plan to fruit them in a shotgun terrarium with perlite and foil squares places underneath. Is it absolutely essential to drill holes or is air exchange multiple times a day not sufficient? Also I plan to spray lysol liberally before every time I open the container as well as during the setup of the shotgun. Any advice? Would hate to see these bad boys go down so easily.

Skip the lysol and drill the holes in a 2inch pattern.

You think? I smoke in my apartment (weed) and the previous occupant smoked cigarettes inside. Shit need a drill. Also is it really helpful to refrigerate the cake after being submerged? I am slightly concerned about drilling holes as my apartment can get rather dry and cold especially now that it's winter. I'm going to have to leave the heat on regularly then I imagine unless I can hook a little heater up for it's enclosure. I plan on keeping it in the closet with a rather powerful desk lamp.

Yes.
1/4" holes every 2" in a grid pattern on all 6 sides.

I smoke in my grow room all the time.
Fruiting is not a sterile process...you need lots of fresh air.

No....cold shocking is not for tropical species.
Cubes are tropical.

I imagine a sharp knife would suffice? I've no drill anywhere. I actually have an incubator but it's only about 5-6 inches in height. Should I even bother? It would control the temperature at the very least.

Not really.
You could use a hot soldering iron, or pliers and a big nail with a torch or a stove.
It takes a while with a drill, depending on the size of your tub, so I imagine it would take even longer melting the holes.

No real need for an incubator unless your temps are below 65F....

The only place I smoke in my house (cigs and weed) is in my grow room, everywhere else is smoke free. You will be fine.

If you have a harbor freight near you you can get a drill for 12 to 15 bucks most of the time.

They are, and i'm too jewish to leave the heating unit on all day for 7-10 days. Granted my climate is somewhat mild but the temperature here fluctuates so often. Without the heater on my apartment stays at about 58 degrees. What would the procedure be for the incubator if I was to use it? I don't remember if the heating element was on the lid or on the bottom. What do in the event that it's on the bottom? i'm thinking create a tub or something of the sort. Been a really long time since i've seen the inside of it. It wasn't the fanciest one but it cost about 90 dollars 5 years ago. Can't remember if it has a chicken wire grating suspending it or what.

All the best advise will tell you to drill holes for your sgfc. What I have found is that I was unable to keep humidity high enough with holes in my fc. I have come to realize that the humidity problem was probably due to me running a fan in the same room 24/7 for my monotub. But I ended up just using a plastic bin was the no holes and fanning the shit out of them.
