wait until your jars are around 30%-40% colonized. then shake and let sit until fully colonized.

Im wondering if it even needs a shake at this point..
I've never done Rye so I am curious aswell, but it looks heavily distrubted as is, and may be quicker just allowing it to colonize as normal without the shake.

How the hell did you get such even distribution of the myc if you haven't shaken it yet? Jar looks damn good

After inoculation i gave the jars a gentle shake to disperse the spores a little. I guess this was a good idea. I started these jars on 11/7

You shot too much spore solution in the jar. The grains are too wet and the mycelium cant fully colonize IMO. How many cc's of solution did you inject in there? I guess i would just wait, maybe gently roll it around on its side to evenly distribute the h20 around the jar. It'll either fully colonize and be no problem, or get bacteria. You'll know when you open it to smell if it has bacteria, as that shit stinks.

i used 1.5-2cc / jar. There is no pooling but i will keep an eye on the moisture.

Upon closer inspection every grain does have quite a bit of water pooled on the glass around it. I don't know whether that's from the spores or your prep.
But I have never seen MS colonize so evenly like that. But I also don't shake my jars right after I inoc, maybe I'll try it.
edit - maybe you accidentally put too much in due to a vacuum or something? Do all your jars from that batch* have water pooled on the grains like that?

Out of the three jars, i shook one last night because i red on the fourm that it is a good idea to shake after 30% colonization. That one looks good, these too (pictured above) are the overly moist jars. i am gently rolling one of the moist jars to see if it can dispure the moisture.
