How do you insulate your home?

What techniques do you use in the winter time to keep your house warm at a cost friendly rate?
Oh yes, its coming.
I rent an apartment near campus. I sectioned off the living room from the kitchen with woolen blankets, winter proofed my windows with plastic sealant, turned the heat down to 63, and put an electric radiator in the room living room where I spent most of my time.
I find that if I wear long pants and socks that I can usually keep warm enough, but is only November. I am thinking about purchasing a space heater that I can run on low in my living room. In addition to the radiator I think it should be cost effective as compared to running the gas throughout the house.
I tend to sleep well with enough covers so my bedroom heat is not an issue. Plus I can transport my radiator to my bedroom if I want.
What's your strategy?

Yeah, I don't bother with any insulation. Heating is included in my rent.

My house is well insulated. I have over 4,000 square feet of living space and my heating bills are like $75 a month and my electric bill is like $250 a month. It's all good and nice and comfortable. I am very grateful for it.

See my situation is the opposite. My electric bills are around 15 dollars, my gas bills are around 27 dollars, and my water bill is usually around 50 dollars.

Electric is the most inefficient way to heat anything. Natural gas is the best bang for the buck, followed by propane then oil and lastly electric. Heating is what I do for a living.
If your thermostat is in the room you want warm then shut off either the flow of forced hot water to the other rooms or close/block the air vents and turn the heat on only to be warming that room. Other wise your going to be paying way more fir electric than gas.

Last year I ran about 300 a month just in propane so I insulated the shit out of my house this year. Found a ad on Craigslist of a guy who had the panels from industrial freezers for 3 buck a 4x8 sheet. Lined attic and crawlspace with them. I use plastic over the windows and check weather stripping. Dont let it get to cold and you get sick and then your medical bills will make heating bills look like chump change.

Cold weather is a myth as to why you get sick. You get sick because there's no fresh air flow in buildings and bacteria and viruses can fester and multiply.
Blankets on the inside covering windows that have plastic on the outside helps.

i insulate my home with the severed cocks of my slain enemies.
i like to hole up in my little room with a space heater and humidifier on. sometimes i put patchouli oil or alcohol in my humidifier if i'm feeling fancy. usually too tired for this.
also, i think people get colds in the winter so often because they eat too much crap

no point in my house. my buddy likes his room cold as shit so while the heater is running his room is heating the outdoors (which are about 10*f in the morning).
but if he weren't here I'd put blankets over the windows, stuff the shit out of the attic with fiberglass, things like that
