Frank, is the key to pulling out the whole substrate a thick liner or what?

A thick liner, a lot of practice, and be prepared to fuck it up every so often.

I have been tempted to try this but when there are a lot of mushies thick in the tub, there is no way I can get my shovel sized hands down to grab at the liner. How do you achieve this? Would it work to maybe slide a thin cookie sheet or something down one of the shrunken sides, then tip the tub sideways and try to work the tub away from the sub while the subs weight is on the sheet?

god damn. I'm gonna go ahead and ask a drunken noob question, so forgive me, but how do you achieve such thick, perfect pinsets like that? it is a matter of perfect growing conditions and such, or is it more due to isolation of a solid strain?
looks stellar regardless. thanks for your teks too, they have done wonders for me

Technique developed over countless hours. Idk if these were isolated. They are oak hill and John Allen variety of Ps. Cubensis.
Also agreed the teks put out by him and the rest of the community have been a huge help. I can't wait to be able to give to the omc like that.

I would say that it is because these are isolates, but I think proper spawn run and fruiting conditions is the number one factor. Genetics obviously play a big part, but I've seen many an MS tub turn out just as well or better than my isolates.
The nice thing about isolates is that they are consistent: when kept in proper cold storage, you can use them to the same results for years.

For a grow of this size, how does the dehydrating work? What kind of dehydrator(s) do you have?
If someone got a 12-tray 900-watt dehydrator, would that be good enough? or would two dehydrators help much?

K Frank I gotta ask Now...
How do you get your blocks in/out of the tub without breaking them???
Mine always break in the middle when I hold the sides to take it out.
I tried letting em consolidate longer but the coir/grain just doesn't get as solid as hpoo
It would be so much easier if I could take my blocks out to harvest w/o breaking them >.>
Currently I just scissors around the tub, and dunk in the tub after 2nd flush.

The oven works fine in my experience if drying on low heat, will take a half day though that way you can dry 4-5 racks at once they will still need desiccant too afterwards, or dry on higher heat **
air drying is a possibility too get some large industrial fan and a large table and put all the shrooms on?
then make a huge desiccant chamber with cat litter in, that is what I would do
having dehydrators would be best though putting in the fridge always gave me trouble, soon they started smelling funny/sour and I got very sick from eating some from the fridge once, even though they had only been there 4-5 days but there was bacteria in the grow I later found out
** oven dried were still plenty potent each time, almost too potent, but have to be extremely careful with the heat, maybe keep the door open for even heating, generally only took 3-6 hours and very potent each time

Properly hydrated substrate, dunked grains, aggressive strains. And a thick liner and a lot of practice
