Switched to Rye, Suddenly Contamination out the wazoo?

I've used WBS for four grows following frank's WBS prep tek. 0 Contaminated jars.
I recently mail ordered rye berries because I liked the idea of an 'even' grain, all being the same size, same expectations etc. (plus the wbs I have available has tiny rocks in it, is that normal?)
So I make the switch and suddenly I'm getting 6 out of 7 jars contaminated.
One thing different about these rye jars is that I'm incubating now at 81 F.
Sterile technique hasn't changed and I incubated one round of wbs with no problems.
Why is there suddenly contamination showing up in 3 sets(21) jars? Again, the only difference is I've switched to rye and I'm incubating. All the multispore syringes I used were also the same 'variety' with the same quality control number. It could be the syringes I guess but it just seems unlikely since I've used this vendor before with only good results and 4 jars have no contamination.
The contamination that's showing up is green mold.
Rye was prepared almost exactly to RR's demonstration. (soak time varied from 18 - 23 hours and PC time was longer at 120 minutes)
Inoculation was done in an SAB.
This is just suddenly really out of the blue since contamination inside the jars hasn't really been an issue for me. I guess All my months of good luck could have suddenly caught up with me but I just keep going over the situation again and again in my head and the only thing I keep coming up with is: rye berries, incubation, same syringes.

No grain is more prone to contamination than another. If you had your WBS prep down pat, and switched to having to prep rye, maybe you're over hydrating or something of the sort.
If you want to know for sure, make a few WBS jars and incubate them and see if the incubation is the problem.
Are you using agar? These could be bad MS syringes as well.

Wbs hydrates differently then rye. Do both in the same run with 1 control jar of each and you will see if that's the problem.
Also could be bad luck ?

I kinda want to go back to wbs but I just don't get why it would be different.
I just inoculated another round of rye jars with a different variety syringe and I'm not going to incubate them just to see.
I'm not using agar yet because when I got a whiskey bottle to use it was too tall to fit in my pc going to buy an Erlenmeyer flask before I start with that.
The jars used 3 syringes, all the same 'strain' all the same Quality Control number from the manufacturer but I feel like if the syringes were the issue then ALL the jars should be contaminated
Also Rubestoad: I hydrated WBS according to frank's WBS tek and hydrated rye according to RR's 'perfect grain spawn' tek where he demonstrates with rye berries, so technically I used different teks for each one.

Ignore anyone who tells you that moisture will create mold. That kind of thinking was finally put to rest in 1862 when Pasteur boiled some broth in a crook-neck flask.
Where do your contaminations originate? If it's right by the mass of mushroom mycelium, it's probably a problem with the syringe. If it's on the bottom or against the sides of the jar somewhere, obviously it's your sterilization process at play. If it's on the top it could still be your sterilization, but more likely it's been exposed to the outside air.
Do you use silicone injection ports? If so, you don't need to bother with the SAB. If not, do. There's no need to waste all that time and effort to prep all that grain for lack of two dollars worth of RTV silicone from Lowe's or Home Depot.

I regularly use silicone injection ports but the fucked up thing is that one set of jars used 7 'professionally made' lids with medical injection ports and syringe filters for gas exchange. It sucks to throw away those lids I paid good money for.
The contamination definitely develops in the same area the mycelium does. Not right next to the myc but if you were to imagine the solution dripping down through the grains it would be where the solution has touched.
But if it was the spore solution why would I get contamination in 6 jars but not the last one?

If it's not right next to the mycelium, it's got to be your sterilization. Pics would be handy, if you have them.
