Molimo's ID request

Hi everyone. I went for a walk in the park the other day and found a group of these mushrooms growing in the grass. Could anyone please identify them for a curious shroom lover?

Habitat: They were growing in a grassy area amongst some dispersed hardwood trees in a city park. Not within 10 feet of any tree though.
Gills: A light gray with a faint yellowish hue. Not directly attached to the stem.
Stem: The biggest sample has a 4.5 inch stem. 1/2 inch in diameter. The inside of the stem is brown with a white core.
Cap: It has a spongy texture with the residue of a universal veil. It is white to eggshell in color. The current diameter is around 5 inches but if it were fully open it would be pushed 7 or 8.
Spore print color: White with a yellow hue.
Bruising: Brown.
Other information: Scent is earthy.
I looked around a bit online. The only similar mushroom I saw was Amanita muscaria var. alba, but wikipedia says it is uncommon so I have my doubts. Thanks for any help!

I would say so. you can see the gills darkening already. They should print green, and they should of course not be eaten.

Attn PWN hunters: If you should come across a bluing Psilocybe matching P. pellicolusa please smell it. If you detect a scent reminiscent of Anethole (anise) please preserve a specimen or two for study and please PM me.

Green Gilled Lepiota (Cholorphyllum molybdites)! I have seen a million in my life and can recognize them instantly. Definitely NOT edible!

Hello again. I have some more mushrooms if anyone would like to identify them. I found them in a mixed forest by the state botanical garden.
Species # 1

Hoping this is Turkey Tail...
Habitat: Growing on a fallen hardwood.
Gills: It looks like tiny white pores. I would need a magnifying glass to be sure...
Stem: No stem
Cap: Distinct bands of color: mostly reds, browns, and greens. The top feels felty.
Bruising: None.
General location: Southeast U.S. woods.
Species # 2

Habitat: Same as 1
Gills: No visible gills or pores. Just a rough brown surface.
Stem: None
Cap: Alternating browns and greens
Bruising: None
General location: Fallen hardwood.
Species # 3

Habitat: Growing amongst the leaves of the forest floor.
Gills: Brownish red, attached to stem
Stem: Scaley and white with a very slight purple hue. ~4 inches long.
Cap: Light brown
Bruising: Don't appear to, maybe brown.
General location: Same as 1 & 2
Species # 4

Habitat: Fallen hardwood
Gills: Tough white gills.
Stem: None
Cap: Brown and white lines with lines of green felt-like substance.
Bruising: None
General location: Same as others

1. Trametes versicolor
2. Compare to Stereum hirsutum Stereum ostrea
3. Looks like a faded Laccaria sp. Perhaps Laccaria amethysteo-occidentalis depending on where you are. Just read above that you are somewhere in the South East U.S. This is probably Laccaria amethystina.
4. Trametes betulina

Thanks for the response, Lhun. Is Trametes betulina the same thing as Lenzites betulina? I am wondering if it can be made into a medicinal extract like Trametes versicolor.
I really wish I had been able to see the Laccaria before it got old. The pictures online look much nicer than my specimen.

Your welcome, and yes it is a synonym.

They can be quite vivid purple when young. Keep an eye on that area. They are pretty common, and will be back.

I just got back from a trip to my friend's farm. I found what I think are two samples of Lion's Mane. One is much more mature than the other. Can anyone confirm this ID for me, please?
Location: South Carolina coastal region. Mixed forest.

Unfortunately, I didn't have a chance to take a pic of the second one in it's natural environment, but here it is...

Hericium erinaceus, you lucky such-and-such, canid says while muttering and shaking his fist.
The second one, though young, is exactly how you want them for prime table-worthiness.

I have almost never found these myself. Almost whenever I take a new hunter out they find them, and half of the time I hunt with others who know what they are doing they find them. It's enough to give a guy a complex.

When you eat the Lion's Mane, just know that they have a very substantial texture and really aren't that good sauteed in butter. Poach them or eat them in stir fry and they'll taste much better. It's more substantial than tofu--kind of like the same texture as an overcooked a sea scallop that got a little rubbery. Using them in soups and sauces would be a good choice, too.
I found one and made the mistake of gobbling it down without cloning or making a LC. D'oh!

I tried to clone it tonight, hopefully it turns out well. I ate about half of it tonight, sauteed with olive oil and soy sauce with some veggies. It was good, but a lot softer than I expected. I almost couldn't pierce it with my fork.

Hey everyone. My friend found these and asked me if I could get an ID. They look like oysters to me, but I'm much too noob to be sure...

Habitat: Fallen hardwood.
Gills: Gills, off-white in color.
Stem: Very short.
Cap: Off-white.
Bruising: None
General location: South Carolina coastal woods.

Definitely oysters. Short off-center stipe, deeply decurrent gills, largeish and meaty-looking...
