It really makes no difference. I hear most dentists don't use nos anymore, there's no need for it with today's anesthetics and it costs extra money. They mix it with oxygen (I think) so it's not like some crazy high. I tried a whip it can for the first time a few weeks ago and hated it. Wasn't fun for me at all, felt like my brain was gonna explode.
I say it's definitely not worth it... Viva said they charged her $65, just go to a headshop and buy everything you need for $45 if you want to try it out that bad, can get it even cheaper online.

i got pretty high. I wanted to ask them to turn it down but didn't. Walked outside, sat in my car for 5 minutes, puked and then drove home. i think it was because i didn't eat breakfast.

I really just don't want novicane since I'm doing this on my lunch break for a job I started today... don't want to be drooling on myself lol
the high is just a bonus
... does nitrous even help with pain?

Nitrous is worth having if you're legit anxious about getting dental work. It works better when they actually turn it up.
I remember the first time I had nitrous, I was all sorts of loopy and giggly. The second time, I would have been drooling on myself had they not had the suction straw. I was practically unconscious and they had to turn the gas off and take a few minutes for me to not be so fucked up. This third time, meh. Not so much. It just barely took the edge off,but I was in so much pain I really didn't care that I was sitting in a dentist chair.
Just keep saying "I don't feel anything yet" and maybe they'll turn it up, lol.
And google says it takes 3 minutes of nitrous to numb the pain feeling receptors in your brain, so theoretically yes it will help w the pain, but I felt my pain relief came from the novicain since everything was numb. The nitrous was more for the anxiety part for me.

You woke up hours later? You are not doing it right and if you keep it up you're going to die.
Dentists generally mix 70% nitrous and 30% O. Essentially replaces the N in the atmosphere with nitrous.

You were probably raped, it was probably filmed and is most likely circulating the web as we speak, happened to me. With the way I was dressed going in though, I was basically asking for it.

Ehh the novicane wont last much longer after you leave the dentist... I was in severe pain immediately after I took a right out of the parking lot. If you get dental work done your gonna be drooling on yourself regardless, and trust me, you DO NOT want to trade out anesthetics for nos. I don't think they will work on you without numbing it. Not sure if nos will take away the pain but it will do a good job distracting you.
Personally, I just don't have extra money to spend on something extra I don't need. My anxiety is pretty bad, and I was pretty damn nervous about pain because of all the pressure I felt on my gums and watching them do the whole procedure with all the crazy tools. My legs were going all over the place until I noticed how shaky I was, but I'm glad I was conscious through it all. I was able to help them open my mouth certain ways when they needed, answer questions, and it just made the job much easier for them. If I'm going to spend $500 to get a tooth pulled I want it done the best way possible.

I'm just gonna try to do it without novicane/nitrous. I'm just getting a filling drilled out.. it's not like they're actually drilling out a cavity. If it hurts I'll ask for nitrous.
Everytime I've got novicaine I had to get like 2 or 3 shots for it to numb the area and then my cheek/lip would be numb like half the day.

Just keep telling them to turn it up, its ineffective, until well, its effective.
