Is dairy 'bad' for you? I can find an infinite amount of sources for either side…
What do you think?

Well I'm not really sure scientifically speaking. The milk companies bribed the food circle makers to add dairy into their shit though. Regardless humans have been milking cows and other animals for a long time. They way I look at it is stop being a little bitch, it's food.

the human body is designed to process a healthy amount of animal fat. Dairy products are full of nutrients--look how fast a baby grows on mother's milk. They also contain natural immune system modulators.
Anything is bad in excess. but whats really stupid and bad is people who eat the artificial 'i can't believe it isn't butter!' type crap. The human body wasn't designed to process that shit.

I read an article saying that Western civilization have evolved( or mutated) to be able to drink milk in adulthood too, but it can also be full of shit.

Source : http://www.slate.com/articles/health_and_science/human_evolution/2012/10/evolution_of_lactose_tolerance_why_do_humans_keep_drinking_milk.html
«In an evolutionary eye-blink, 80 percent of Europeans became milk-drinkers; in some populations, the proportion is close to 100 percent. (Though globally, lactose intolerance is the norm; around two-thirds of humans cannot drink milk in adulthood.) The speed of this transformation is one of the weirder mysteries in the story of human evolution, more so because it's not clear why anybody needed the mutation to begin with. Through their cleverness, our lactose-intolerant forebears had already found a way to consume dairy without getting sick, irrespective of genetics.»

I haven't done a tremendous amount of research but there are quite a few people who argue that the human body is not designed to be drinking milk past infancy. Granted this does not stop people and some people seem to handle it better than others. I personally can't handle it, makes me feel like crap, whenever having cereal I use almond milk or some other alternative. I'll still eat certain foods with dairy but it makes me feel pretty terrible.

I'm tempted to think it's not fantastic. Much of the nutritional hype is from producers/sellers IMO. I've been having it because I enjoy the taste and feel it gives me protein and calcium. But I doubt how well I digest it. It often causes the production of a lot of mucous for me, like post-nasal drip. Given we apparently only evolved the ability to digest it quite recently (and that it's not really 'intended' for us - i.e. it's for calves, which digest it well), it wouldn't surprise me if it wasn't so great.
Ethically and environmentally speaking, I think it also has some issues. I still drink it though, and often have yoghurt - but often feel I may be better without it. My 2c

among other things, digestion of milk can actually be harmful to bone density rather than helpful
lots of misinformation put out by the dairy industry, you hit the nail on the head.

Not sure if it's related to what you mentioned or not, but I've heard that the digestion of (red) meat causes the pH of the blood to decrease (become more acidic). One of the ways the body regulates this acidity is by sacrificing calcium from bones to alkalise the blood. So too much red meat can lead to decalcification of bones (and a reduction in bone density). But yeah, don't know if this relates to dairy or not...

it does relate to dairy. all animal protein causes that pH decrease.
and the calcium in milk, even though there is a lot of it - is not very bioavailable.

The human body wasn't designed, so it can't be designed to do anything. Before agrarian society began to form, the only milk available to a human was its mother's milk. Once we started animal husbandry, milk became available as a food source. The people who drank milk had cows. The people who had cows had food. The people who had food lived and the people who didn't have cows did not.
Humans have coevolved with their cows. Because of this, most people can drink milk as a part of their daily diet. Others, who did not inherit the same set of genes, have lactose intolerance.
Milk is not particularly good for you. It has a lot of cholesterol, which can be bad for some people. It does have one trait that I think this forum might find interesting. It contains chemicals that are psychoactive. Milk can be abused, just like any other drug.
