Any electricianados in the house? Need to fix dishwasher....

Anyone that knows about electronics know if I can salvage this ribbon wire that connects dishwasher touchpad to control panel? It came off an I'm wondering how one reattaches. Not sure if the connections are shot. Buying the part new is about 150 which we will do if that's our last resort. But really hoping there is some way I can fix it but I don't know much about ribbon wires. Seems like it might be simple enough but. Also connections being so small not sure how to go about it.

Can you get better picture of the board it attaches to? Also maybe one from an angle so I can see some depth.
Typically with ribbon cables there is a "slot" (which I think I see) that the ribbon cable slides under. There is also usually then a latch piece that clamps down on the cable. I don't see that. It's possible it may have broken off.
You should be able to just slide the cable back underneath the slot and maybe hold it down with a piece of hot glue or something if the latch is missing.

there was never a latch, i know what you mean. this was just adhered to the touchpad strip, which is the second picture where it just slides in there. i was wondering if when it came out, seeing as it seems like over time it deteriorated the adhesive, and possibly some kind of a conducting agent????
are you saying, as long as those kinda of beige lines are touching the dots that they line up with on the strip, it should complete the connection? i was wondering if there was like maybe little tabs of a metal of sorts that kind of connected the ribbon to the touch pad. not sure if im explaining what i mean well. however, i will give it a shot with some hot glue. not sure why i didnt think of that. i have some loctite super glue, but i gather i should steer from that in case it doesnt set right and i have to try again. thanks for the suggestion. ill see what i can do.

Yes, the connectors just need to touch. Make sure the hot glue doesn't get in between the connectors because it will not conduct electricity. It looks like the adhesive just deteriorated.

it seems the strip is actually fried in some spots.
is there a way to trick the points on the ribbon that would be activated otherwise by pushing the button? like, completing the connection and sending the signal to the control panel telling it to run a cycle??

Do you have a multimeter? It will be very difficult to diagnose this issue beyond what I have already told you without one.

it MAY be possible to run wires from the connector if you unsoldered it at its connection points to the board it's self on both ends and resolderd wires in the place of the ribbon completely eliminating the ribbon connector all together. but that would be a lot of shit if you weren't sure of what you were doin..
what's the rainbow stuff OP?? just curious....
