idendification....possible?
    #1912056 - 09/13/03 08:55 AM (13 years, 2 months ago)

After 2 days of rain, i came up with this little guys while i was walking around.... They were found at the westest region of middle east... (near Istanbul but at the other side of the Bosphorus)900-1100m altitude... Growing on a pasture land.... No dung, near a tree which was cut some time ago... And they don't have veils... Taking prints right now....

These are some immature ones;

And some mature ones;

Who are these guy? :grin:

You'll need a better description, like stem texture and flexability, was there a seperable pellicle? Any noticable distinctive odor? Any type of staining in the flesh of the mushrooms? Etc... and lets us know how that print turns out.

Just from quickly looking over your pictures, my wild guess would be some sort of Psathryella. But I've never seen caps of a psathryella rot like your mushrooms with that sort of melted coprinus appearance.

LK,

they are water drenched i presume. many striate-capped species do this. most noticably an Amanita vaginata i found growing in my yard a week ago.

Actually they were just like a hollow stemed Cub. No texture on the stem and not flexible... The stem broke into pieces (vertically) as you can see in the last pic. No pellicle, no distinctive odor....

Here is the print and the cap of the specimen i took print of... (i took the photos after picking it. It is the one in the last pic.)

There's nothing different then a hollow stemmed Cub. than the colour of the cap and the look of the cap of the overmature ones.

These are NOT cubies. I'd say they are some kind of PSathyrella. I've been finding tons species of that genus here lately (photos coming up in a couple of days, hopefully), and from what you posted here, I'm very much inclined to think these are psathyrellae. What exact species they are is difficult to say. And, as LK already noted, the rims of the caps on the older specimens look unlike anything I've seen on psatyhrellae, that is to say, I've seen them rotting, but not quite like that before. Nevertheless I'm convinced that those are some sort of psathyrella. Made my point, I assume? :laugh:

He said he knows they are not Cubies. He was using it as a comparison.
