    #19119421 - 11/11/13 08:30 AM (10 years, 2 months ago)

I inoculated the wrong sized jars, but ended up birthing them about 3 days ago. today when inspecting my cakes i noticed one has a blackish fuzzy contamination on it. is this cake garbage? here is pics.

Spray it with some hydrogen peroxide mixed with water. I forget the ratio. I think it's 1 part peroxide and 10 parts water. I could be wrong. You should still get some fruits from it

If your in the states, the brown bottle hydrogen peroxide is
already diluted to the correct ratio to kill cobweb.

Spray 3 Times a Day for 3 Days or Until the COBWEB is gone.

I dont recommend spraying h2o2 for anything besides cobweb.

Brown Bottle Peroxide (h2o2) is diluted to 3% btw.

really? how can you tell? I believe you. I got an air pump in there and i fan every couple hours or so, the air pump is on over night too. I have been rotating my cakes a little bit over the last couple days. because of my large sized cakes ive been trying to get them to fruit from all angles. I was thinking about cutting them in half and making 12 out of my 6. would that disrupt the mycelium?

They are not going to lose any potency.

Pick them as they mature, or all at once...it's your call.

Yes, but cut them as close to the cake as possible, so that only a small "stump" is left.

hell yea i sprayed that with peroxide when i saw that purple rapidly spreading through my shit lol. took about 5 seconds and i realized it was just spores. also i was gonna sk if i would be able to collect the spores off of the foil that my sideways cakes are laid on. they are pretty purple all over them. would that leave them too exposed to contams?

 peroxide is only used to treat cobweb mold....not every contam....

Only if you plan on putting them on agar...other than that just make a spore print in a SAB on a fresh peice of foil.
