Important but easy to forget stuff, especially while indoors alone online on the Shroomery, thinking thinking thinking
Have a wonderful day peeps, live in the moment all day long
-------------------- Blessed are your eyes because they see, and your ears because they hear.
For truly, I say to you, many prophets and righteous people longed to see what you see, and did not see it, and to hear what you hear, and did not hear it. - Matthew 13:16

The answer to so many problems
-------------------- Love is from the infinite, and will remain until eternity. The seeker of love escapes the chains of birth and death. Tomorrow, when resurrection comes, The heart that is not in love will fail the test. ~ Rumi The day we start giving Love instead of seeking Love, we will have re-written our whole destiny. ~ Swami Chinmayanada Saraswatir

tolles thoughts are my thoughts, or my thoughts are tolles thoughts
hmm..
just relax, be here now
observe thoughts, see how pointless doubt, fear, frustration, worries are, let them pass
notice the peace, feel the peace
only associate with thoughts when needed, they are not who you are :-) I am not my painbody, as he would say but the observer of own thoughts
someone gave me the power of now, pretty good book... didnt get to read much though, but have seen him on youtube, agreed with every word so far

the realizations up to the point where I got the book were a bit overwhelming, and the book was like a mirror of own thoughts at the time so there was no point in reading it
since I had been living as my thoughts for 15 years, but now realized they werent me the title said it all for me :-)
always been bad at reading books... think I got adhd or such, or maybe just stress I often observe my thoughts too.. dunno where I learned it, and believe in peace like tolle
and sit in nature to try and quiet my mind, can recommend a walk in nature to anybody, really helps everytime
peace :-)

Why specifically zazen? Some people like different techniques or no techniques at all. Presence comes in many forms, not just one

Care to elaborate?

Oh I know what he's saying. I'm with you Anon 2, before I used to be a thriving active young man, but after I found Tolle I gave it all up and now look like this:
-------------------- Blessed are your eyes because they see, and your ears because they hear.
For truly, I say to you, many prophets and righteous people longed to see what you see, and did not see it, and to hear what you hear, and did not hear it. - Matthew 13:16

The Tantras do not teach this stilling of the mind. There are thousands of incorrect meditation systems.
While the message of being here now might benefit some people, it cannot but hurt others who a bit of extra thought could get them out of losing situations.
The only way to reside in the present is to utilize the minds ability for going towards greater charm by making charm come forth through the practice. One uses the mind with the mandala and mantra and then at some point the mind is still active but in the meditation and the mind also does nothing while the mind yet still does everything. The mind needs to work on many levels. The Tantras do teach this ability to in fact think about nothing. Such knowledge is not taught in the West. When it really should be since we all here base our self worth on obvious acheivements. We should not seek to turn off the thought stream, but rather to lighten its weight.
-------------------- ...or something
