My old boss had a pair and it is like audio orgasm.  I'm upgrading these audio technicas when I can get some money together... is there anything else I should check out?  I listen to mostly electronic music although I would like to be able to enjoy any genre as I do change it up frequently.  I use headphones a lot at the coffee shop so they must be closed and overear.

We would need to know your price range to help you choose.

I must say, though, that headphones are bad for your hearing. You should employ them only when they are needed. When they are needed, however, differs from person to person.

I mix my music on a pair of reference monitors, then I use my headphones to verify the sonic space and motion of the elements in the music. That's all. I won't even use headphones at the gym. I'd rather run in silence than destroy my hearing just to entertain myself.

I havent tried them but I was told from a number different people that Sennheiser headphones are the way to go. Hopefully someone else in the forum knows about these ones...

I find the best audio deals are found when buying used.  I have my eye on a pair of Sennheiser momentums.  Missed a used pair on my audio forums the other day and I'm kicking myself for it.

i had the NAD 660pro for a long time, like 10 years and loved them.

however wear and tear etc and i treated them quite harshly,
i am going to get those NAD headphones very soon as i am very
happy with the rest of the audio equipment from NAD.

Dt770's used to be my goto pair even when I had higher end headphones. They are just a nice all around pair. However I sold them for a pair of denon d2000s. I prefer them and they sound great. Not as sturdy though and a mounting swivel broke.

Best closed headphones i've ever heard were denon d2000. Apparently they are discontinued though, but they have a d600 model which is supposedly very similar.

Beyers are also the most comfortable headphones I have ever put on my head though.  IMO you have to take that into consideration.

Sennheiser are great in terms of audio quality, the build quality can sometimes leave something to be desired though. I had two or three pairs that had the cable split from the ear piece in under 6 months. This was a few years back and I haven't seen any recent models TBH.

I would obviously read some reviews and check to see if they are still being made in a somewhat flimsy manner though.. I've had a pair of Denon's that were very reasonably priced and comparable to anything sub £150-200 that I have heard. I think I paid around £45 for them about a year ago. Current exchange rate is $1.60 = £1, do the numbers if you need to. Worth looking into though, amazing bang/sonic range for your buck.

I can't recall the model number/name, they get used a lot and it has rubbed off with pretty much daily use. (pretty sure my hearing will be fucked by the time I am 40..) Love loud music too much though, I always use ear protection when doing anything percussive though, this is something a lot of people tend to ignore. Hitting something metallic with a hammer a few times can do more damage than months of headphone use..
