How easy is it to germinate woodlover spores on grains?
    #19117313 - 11/10/13 09:11 PM (10 years, 3 months ago)

Just wondering how easy it would be to germinate a woodloving species on grains or if going rite to agar is the only practical way to germinate them.

Start spores on agar if your using a wild print. Ive always wondered if the vendors azure spore syringes are from wild prints or from indoor ones, but i still would go to agar first either indoor print or outdoor print as there is more advantages. I swiped some stuntzii spores on MEA a little over 2 weeks ago, and havnt had any germination. Was thinking of adding something wood-based to the agar.

It's very easy to germinate wood lover spores on grain directly from a spore syringe. Inoculate a jar of grains the same way you would inoculate it for any cube. After the jar of grains colonizes then use it to inoculate spawn bags of hydrated wood chips that have been pressure cooked. For greater quantities of spawn use the colonized spawn bags to inoculate tubs of hydrated pc'd wood chips.
I've used this method for a very productive psilocybe cyanescens patch.:goodluck:

Never really knew this before, I really want to clone some oysters tissue from the market. I was thinking of trying, tissue --> liquid culture --> spawn bags. But now I'm thinking of just doing agar to liquid culture.
