Is it necessary to tape up your monotub holes or put them in trash bags during bulk colonization?

I prepared a hpoo monotub yesterday and just taped up the holes with micro-pore tape which is what ill be using to fruit with..  The bulk substrate is just colonizing right now but I didn't put the mono-tub in a trash bag or anything...

However the closet that its in doesn't get hardly any airflow, only when i open the door to check and make sure the heater is still on..

Should I go back and put a trash bag over it or maybe wrap the tub in saran wrap over the micro-pore taped holes?  Why exactly do i want high C02 levels anyway?

Micropore tape will not allow for enough FAE for fruiting, and you want high CO2 levels for colonization.

Tape the holes with a non-breathable tape like duck tape or clear packing tape.

Stuff the holes with polyfill to fruit....it's polyester pillow stuffing, not micropore tape.

That is ok.

No....tape the holes as described, like everyone else does.

Because mycellium likes high co2 levels while colonizing.

A drop in co2 is a main pinning trigger....we do this at fruiting with FAE.

how did micropore tape get such a bad rep?  I used to fruit with it, a lot of people did with good success..  Cant you just run the fan a little higher?

Not really.

We use micropore tape on jars for GE specifically because it restricts airflow.

It is not going to change simply because it's fruiting time.

People have greater success nowadays, with more fresh air.

Micropore tape is not adjustable....a polyfill stuffed hole is.

Why would you want something that you could not adjust?

I figured you could adjust the fan instead...

Adjusting the fan is not going to make the tape allow for more or less airflow.
