Brown bacteria? Should I be concerned?
    #19117436 - 11/10/13 09:33 PM (10 years, 2 months ago)

Left for the weekend, left my fruiting mono in the closet for 2 day 2 nights.  COme back and about 10% of my fruits had this. the other 90% were perfectly fine. MS->WBS->coir. Its the 2nd flush.

Bacteria? Health risks?

They were sporadically throughout the tub. Are the others safe to eat? If there is bacteria in there, wouldn't it be everywhere?  It doesn't help that im a hypochondriac

Bacteria is everywhere but usually only reaches numbers large enough to damage the mushroom in areas that remain wet for long periods of time, mainly on the caps. That tissue damage doesn't to be from bacteria just simple water damage probably. If it's any relief though the bacteria that do cause blotching on mushrooms is harmless to people so unless the mushroom has become rotten, and you'd know by the smell and the sliminess, it's still safe to eat.
