dry cakes with shrooms

I birthed my cakes about 12 days ago. Dunked first of course. A few of them have some pins only around the bottom part of the cake that are hardly growing at all. One of the cakes has a huge pin that really hasn't done anything in about 2 days. The cakes feel pretty dry. I do mist regularly but I don't think that's enough to give the shrooms the water they need. For the first week I believe my humidity was off for the most part. Probably hovering around 70. I was also forced to use very fine vermiculite to roll in. I read elsewhere this may suffocate cakes. So what are my options exactly? I was thinking about picking off the pins and trying to redunk and not roll.

in my noob opinion, I wouldn't re-dunk, just keep on with the misting, but maybe mist more often. Pictures would help a lot when you ask a question here!! So post some pics!

Are those giant hole in your fruiting chamber? My guess is thats why your humidity is low and cakes are dry. Do yourself a favor and build a proper SGFC. 1/4 holes every two inches on all six sides

Has that FC worked for you in the past? I can't say that I've ever seen one that looked quite like that before.
How's your RH? Do you have holes in the bottom of the tub?

My humidity is good now. That is my fruiting chamber. I have the 1/4 inch holes across the bottom of the tub and around the 4 sides as high as my perlite goes. Which is roughly 4 inches. The bigger holes are taking the place of the rest of the holes. They are just a couple large ones instead of a 100 small ones. My humidity is 100% it will start to lower about 3 or 4 hours. Which is when I mist and fan.

The humidity was def too low the first week. I taped up 2 holes and it was able to maintain the humidity. I wasn't even getting pins until adjustments were made. I have only worked with monotubs the past few years. And when I did do cakes I just placed them in a Tupperware with no holes at all.just mist and fanned and had very nice results. Almost 6 grams a cake.

Did you let the jars sit an extra week after reaching 100% colonization? You probably just have to be a bit more patient, although that FC does look kinda crappy and like the others have mentioned, I'd recommend building a proper SGFC for your next grow
