Being honest to myself makes me sad, really sad sometimes  I just want to find peace with myself.
Ultimately I just can't accept that life happened without a creator (but I can't figure out if I truly truly feel this way, or if that has just been instilled in me). Although i find the idea of life just living for the sake of living kind of romantic

everything must have a reason to exist. if a creator had no reason to create, then it's creation becomes junk. being that "God" is supposedly omnipresent (being the creator of all the universe and all), he would know all outcomes to anything and everything. there'd be no reason for "God" to exist without the free will of humans; even if said free will is just customs which suit the individuals need. if you don't create, their is no reason for a God to exist. life is inherently meaningless, unless you believe in a higher power, whatever that is. so keep believing. in whatever you believe in. even if it's *shrug* money. even if that is the lowest common denominator. but a God, or a meaning to existence, is WAY... more useful.

Thanks akira.
I'll keep this in mind as i deal with this more :yes nod:
The one thing that gets me though is if christianity isn't true, and I lead a christian life, then I'd be intolerant to many things that I should have embraced

Christianity is a jumble of half-truths, full on lies, and maybe a few consistent moral platitudes... and that isn't because of "God", it's because of Man.

you can't love or even believe in "the Lord", if you can't love your enemy. main proponent of Christianity, from Jesus the Man himself.

I've just been doing a lot of thinking lately about the soul and such.

I was raised a Christian for 18 years, church, private christian school, the whole nine yards basically.
Now over 1.5 years later I'm just really questioning everything. So many other things make sense too, but I haven't forsaken christianity. it's difficult for me and sadly I find the easiest thing for me to do is to just put the thoughts off for later.

I've finally come to a conclusion with religion for myself.  The universe has existed 13.4 billion years.  The ancients on this planet... they could have existed from the very dawn of time for all I know.  Also, from what i've been also coming to a conclusion of is.. it seems every religion has its roots from ancient religions.  So maybe the ancients have passed down religion since the very dawn of time.  We just dont understand it yet.

This whole meta-physical thing is so complex but it makes so much sense.

who knows, just a thought

This was all easier when my teachers had an 'answer' to all my questions :tongue2:
I don't know how we could even figure an age for the world. Scientists can tell me all the numbers they want but I'm not able to check their work, so I have no idea how accurate it is. basically all I'm able to say to any of this is "i don't know". And i guess there's something nice to not knowing, constantly running into questions makes life less mundane. My randomly decided username now makes sense!

interesting. Are you religious? You can PM if you'd rather I'm just curious. I do believe we have souls, i just doubt that we are able to capture a picture of the soul leaving the body. Why would the soul look the same as the body after all :shrug2:

thats exactly what i was wondering.  the only thing i can come up with is.. the soul is just so used to the physical body so it still takes on it's shape for awhile after leaving. plus it is apart of you. makes sense but who knows

If souls are eternal, then they spend the vast majority of their existence outside the human body.

And the technique used to create that shitty picture is called multiple exposure. It was obviously intended an artistic piece, not an attempt to prove the existence of a soul, which is impossible because it is immaterial by definition and therefore can't be observed through a camera, human eyes, or otherwise. That's kind of the point of that aspect of the reality myth.

wrong. everything has a reason, lest it wouldn't exist. if something didn't have a reason to exist, it wouldn't have a reason to BE. so hence, a reason is required.

ie. the big bang = REASON; why the universe is in existence.

a "cause" would be an example of a reason, but not in the sense that i am talking about.

i am talking about the fact that everything has to have a point to it's existence.
