Almond Smell, unable to identify
    #19116446 - 11/10/13 06:26 PM (10 years, 3 months ago)

I've found some mushrooms that I would like to identify as edible or not... They have a distinctive almond odor, but don't look quite like the Marasmius oreades or Agaricus, they look more like Clitocybe dealbata.  Do dealbata also smell like almonds? Can we eat them?

White gills, no yellow bruising, white/brownish cap that is flat/depressed. In Southern Interior BC.

Looks more like Hygrophorus, there a number of almond smelling species. One of them is Hygrophorus agathosmus, maybe try comparing to that.
Are the gills waxy feeling?

I see alot of those too man, they kinda lift up like chanterelle. I don't know what they are though.

The gills do feel kind of waxy, not brittle or anything that's for sure.  And they do lift up like chanterelle's.

Compare with Hygrophorus agathosmus.

Yes, I was just on the wikipedia page, that looks right. Thank you for all the input! Too bad they are noted as being bland, they do smell good.
