Habitat:
On the wet floor of a forest under lots of fallen leaves.

Gills:
Orange/reddish brown

Stem:
2-4 inches long

Cap:
1-2 inches across

Spore print color:
Don't have one

Bruising:
None

I didn't smell it, but we are near Seattle. Found it today.

I would strongly suggest collecting them and drying them very well. Then see what they smell like. I bet you will be pleasantly surprised!

OP said they were found just outside of Seattle. I don't know where exactly
that is but the L. rubidus only grows in the coastal range.

This year has been amazing for candy caps. Well, RiparianZoneJunkie has found buckets of em. So many candy cookies!

Cool. You could be right but might not be. There are like 5 Lactarius that
all look very similar.

L. subglammeus, L. suviscidus, L. luclulentus, and of course my fave
L. rubidus.
