The blue isn't bruising. It's more or less an inherent coloration in these particular mushrooms.

Yes, for sure!
The texture of the caps did seem a bit strange. But the color of the spore print is fine for Psilocybe. Sometimes Psilocybe have very purple prints and other times its more brown with only a trace of purple, which is what these prints look like. These prints are on the brown side.
The gills barely look like Psilocybe, they are half way to the color of Pholiota.
Good to know that the viscid Stropharias dry to an odd wrinkly texture.
They are edible but not active.

Nah, these look way different than dried cyans, stuntzii or ovoids. I have never seen a Psilocybe dry to a wrinkly texture like that.

I'm going to re run the a spore print on the fresh one's I just collected. Alan Rockefeller got me excited for a sec when he said they are a Psilocybe species. None of these mushrooms will be ingested though. I appreciate all of your help. You guys are awesome! I guess I'll just stick to the spots I know for sure put out cyans and stuntzii's then.

what species of stropharia are these? they wouldnt be Aeruginosa would they? because the description of those sort of matches, but the stipe and the gills dont really fit the description. I found no annulus, and the stipes didnt have white "scales" on them either.

Personally, I expect to see far more tight, acute wrinkles, and not at all pillowy looking.

it's just weird, I've read that all stropharia's have remnants of a veil and an annulus and these didnt. I'm gonna toss them I think. Too controversial

yeah they might have such a slight remnant that it's almost unnoticable even in the fresh ones.

But you don't have to toss them. You could save them and start a herbarium for study if you decide to keep this hobby.
