How can you not find an answer to this? Literally every single thing I have read about growing pans says you need manure AND a casing. It seems you did not UTSF very much

You cannot grow them using PF cakes, sure the spores will germinate, but what is the point of doing cakes if you are going to have to case them anyway. More work and less yield. Better to do grain jars, easier and better yield.

I do not drink coffee, and still, his question was something that could have easily been found with a little searching

Yes, but the cake wont fruit without some extra steps.

So, just to be clear and straight up- yes, they will germinate and the mycelium will grow in a brf and verm cake, but you will need to add manure in order to get them to actually fruit. (Or at least to get them to fruit more than just a couple of weirdos, even then you'd be lucky to get that)

well no shit but i prefer to answer the posters questions right and not try sway them into what i believe to be better, some are more comfortable with cakes and thats just fine by me

Inocculating a cake is exactly the same as innoculating a quart jar of grain. It is not opinion that it is better yield.
1 quart of spawn > 1/2 pint of spawn
And you end up doing the same procedures for casing anyway

You would not even get "a couple weirdos" with a cake. You need to add manure and let that colonize, then add a thin casing layer

How can you not find an answer to this? Literally every single thing I have read about growing pans says you need manure AND a casing. It seems you did not UTSF very much
ok lets start over, i don't know what your reading but the prefer manure and benifit from a casing layer

yes you can start them on normal pf cakes then crumble them to a pasturized bulk substrate preferably with manure(ik've seen it without)

haha I was not expecting this many "straight up answers"
"So, just to be clear and straight up- yes, they will germinate and the mycelium will grow in a brf and verm cake," This is all I needed!
Cronicr I have a questions about ur... "yes you can start them on normal pf cakes then crumble them to a pasturized bulk substrate preferably with manure(ik've seen it without)"
What do you suggest pasturized bulk substrate consist of aside from manure?
Do i crumble up this bulk substrate and the mycelium evenly in a tinfoil container and just let them grow from there?

yes just pasturize some h-poo, no need to add any verm or anything gypsum i won't argue with. just pasturize it properly and crumble your cakes and mix evenly, then put it into your container of choice to colonize, then you will want to pasturize your casing layer which is thinly applied(1/4 inch) which most people prefer a 50/50 of verm and peat moss(you should use lime or something for the ph)

wooow I didnt know you also needed to pasteurize a casing layer! Perfect thank you for being super simple about it. What about dunking? is that necessary/how do I do that exactly?

I thought crumbling cakes was bad, or they didnt grow as fast and strong as grains or something. Or is that different for cyans and just for cubes?

You can start them on BRF Cakes but after full colonization you have to crumble and mix with straw or manure for them to fruit. Straw works awesome if properly pasteurized. With pan cyans you have to case before fruiting also. Pan Cyans are tricky but not impossible.
