better shaving than a gillette mach3 ?
    #19114188 - 11/10/13 10:35 AM (10 years, 3 months ago)

hi everyone,
I shave every workdays morning right after my shower with a mach3, but at the end of the week the blade is getting bluntier and it irrate/cut my sensitive/bad skin, especially at the lower of my neck where the beard stop.

I'm ready to switch to something better and I'm thinking maybe some disposables so I get a fresh blade everyday or fusion proglide or whatever there's so many one out there.
maybe a better shaving cream? never really noticed any differences so I always buy the one in discount for sensitive skin.

any suggestions is welcomed
:peace:

That's what I use when I actually shave, it works pretty good IMO.

Your blades are probably dulling due to moisture.
Try towel drying your razors after use and don't leave them in the shower if you do.

You could try using an electric razor on the bottom inch or two of your beard (and a regular razor on the rest).  That works "ok" for me.

Use aftershave or alcohol.  Personally, I don't particularly care for scented products, so I just use straight rubbing alcohol after I shave.

I've also read using a hair dryer works.  Never tried it though.

I just bought this one a month or so ago and I hate it, it makes my neck break out like highschool all over again for some reason.  Only reason I still use it is cuz I'm a broke ass mofo.

I use witch hazel, it really helps with stopping bumps and ingrown hairs.

I've been shaving with a double edge safety razor for about 6 years. I'll never go back to commercial million blade razors (cept for shaving the balls, single blade razors on balls is dangerous... I've never even attempt it.). It's a hell of a lot cheaper and works just as well, if not better. I get 100 razors for $35 and they each have two cutting edges.

This is the way to go:

Edit: there's a whole thread about double edge safety razor shaving: http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/9906371

I bet the double edge safety razor or a straight razor would be best, but I use a Gillette Fusion Pro Glide. It's pretty good.

I'm with Gumby on this. I need to buy a new double edged safety razor, since my first one was cheap and broke  It's cheaper than using expensive razors like the Mach3, and the shave was more comfortable than what I got from most other razors I've tried.

i shave my face every day with a schick hydro blade.  pretty cheap.  i forego shaving cream, because cheap shaving cream sucks.  instead i use the cheapest VO5 conditioner (which i also use in my hair) to shave my face.  works perfect, never get irritated.  i then use baby lotion all over my face and neck for moisturizing.  i WOULD use after shave, but i'm cheap.

when i shave my junk i use baby oil, no water.  with the grain.  every few days (not every day).

DO NOT use baby oil to shave ur face/neck, u'll break out with terrible acne.

I just sharpen my fingernails, most cost efficent blade you can get anywhere.

I usually use gillette pro glide, has always worked great for me.

Could you use extra virgin olive oil? That won't make you break out :strokebeard:
+ it's a great moisturizer.

maybe!  i think one of the gladiators in the movie 'gladiator' did that, right?  something about selling his sweat to the princess as perfume or something...  iono, maybe i'm mixing gladiator with wikipedia.

let me know if EVOO works:gameover:
