Question about Diphenhydramine

I've taken benadryl recreationally in the past and I actually enjoy the effects presented upon myself; however I stopped this along with DXM I had also been abusing at the time. I've done it a total of around four times, including my suicide attempt (one very odd, unpleasant night before I blacked out).
Moving on... I recently became addicted to what is known as spice/synthetic marijuana. I quit very recently and, well, let's just say I am craving it. I am very much thinking about taking benadryl again simply because I don't see any reason not too. I don't have to leave my house in order to get some, and I feel it will help me with the withdrawal symptoms I am facing because of the spice.
I would just go get some weed, but unfortunately I just recently got a job and I start on the 18th of this month, so weed would have to wait.
Chances are I'm going to be taking it anyways... I would just like some opinions as to whether or not it is a good idea to be taking it; if not, please let me know why.
EDIT: Sorry I didn't provide enough information. I want to take it to sort-of overcome what I'm feeling because of the spice. I'm just afraid because of the suicide attempt -- The last time I had taken this drug I wasn't planning on having a good time. I'm afraid that by taking it there may be some kind of connection that may make me suicidal again.
Also I'm not really into not knowing the long-term effects of this drug are. My grandma (before she died) suffered from severe alzheimer's disease, and that's something I'm not interested in... though taking this drug may lead me there.
I'd just like to thank you both because it seems as though I've solved my own question because of you two. I'm likely going to quit everything once I get a job (except maybe weed). I'm definitely not going to be taking this anytime while i'm employed... I need this mind. I'd just like to thank you again for your patience with this seemingly idiotic question. Ciao!

Hm, I guess my question would be why do you want to take it? Like as a replacement drug to help you not think about spice? To help you sleep? And how long would you like to be taking it? Ive not heard much data that short term abuse of this stuff is a big deal. Whats the dilemma here?

Because you're on a website asking us to provide you with a reason not to. If that isn't a clear cry for help, I don't know what one looks like.
Taking Benadryl to get high just not worth it. Honestly man, cut the drugs out. I did DXM, painkillers, smoked a lot of pot in HS. I know you're just trying to "have fun, forget about shit and be a teenager," but the long-term plan should be to live a happy and fulfilling life, so find things that make you happy that aren't drugs. And then, for fun, combine them with drugs. But drugs for drugs sake, on a sat night, don't you feel that's kind of pointless?

Stop doing things you can buy at the store to get high man. Just relax and focus on you job until to r are set and able to purchase something that's not available at Walmart..
Does sound like a cry for help...
