San Pedro Infection?!
    #19112217 - 11/09/13 09:27 PM (10 years, 2 months ago)

URGENT! Today while cutting a cactus(which SWIM purchased)SWIM realized he used a knife that was not CLEAN. It was used for making food.. some sort of egg/meat food. whats going to happen? what should SWIM do?

and if everything is ok, then can swim just keep the SP in his closet where it is dark and cool until it is ready to be planted?

If you are concerned, make a fresh cut with a clean knife, and get a fan on it to get the end dried quicker and aid callous formation.
Chances are it will be ok.
No need to keep in the dark for striking roots, stand in a pot, place in a window, and wait

You should be fine since you are not consuming cactus but rather going callous it to root. Ive used "dirty" knives to cut cacti before without any problems. I would only be slightly concerned if you used that knife to prepare it for consumption but even then any major health risks are not likely.
