I was riding my bike the other day and I was admiring a really beautiful sunset just up in front of me. Oddly enough though, I hadn't even noticed it a couple of minutes earlier...the reason why - I had just recently been facing the other direction, and only one half of the sky was lit up while the other half was quickly becoming dark and gloomy. I then noticed someone walking down the road in my direction, and I couldn't help but think that while I was enjoying a gorgeous sunset he was only seeing a sky full of grey clouds...
That got me thinking about how often I do the same exact thing - how often I get so wrapped up in constantly looking towards whatever's ahead of me that I simply forget about everything that's contributed to where I am now. Sometimes I think it's almost necesary to take a break every once in a while and look back for a minute or two and remember where you've come from.
