Planting/Rooting of San Pedro Cactus
    #19111274 - 11/09/13 05:29 PM (10 years, 2 months ago)

So SWIM has about 14 inches of San Pedro cactus and plans on growing them. SWIM has a plastic pot that has holes on the bottom for excess water and cactus soil. SWIM plans on letting the cactus dry out until the bottom is calloused and dry, then he will put rooting solution on the bottom of the cactus and place it in the soil, about 2 inches deep. Does this sound ok?

By the way when should the cactus be watered? ._.
And SWIM plans on growing it indoors if he can(a spot where the cactus will get sunlight) since he is afraid of insects or bad weather. Any thoughts or suggestions?

If your climate allows, you should grow it outdoors. If your climate doesn't allow that, you should overwinter it indoors and induce dormancy by withholding water and keeping in as cool of an area as possible. It can then be gradually transitioned to more sun outside for the warmer months. I've never seen a very nice san pedro that was always kept indoors.

Would it not be harder to control insects inside?  If someone who isn't you was worried about bugs and all....  It seems like wind, sun and beneficial predatory insects would act as a good exterminator for the leafless cacti.
