URGING question about San Pedro PLEASE!
    #19110922 - 11/09/13 03:48 PM (10 years, 2 months ago)

URGENT!!! SWIM was preparing a SP and while SWIM was cutting the SP he noticed the cactus was softer than an a regular SP. When grasping the cactus, SWIMS fingers was able to dig in a little bit. In addition, while SWIM was cutting the cactus, it was noticeably harder to cut. Much more difficult... SWIM reasoned it was because it was "young" or not an adult cactus. Is this correct to assume or is there another reason?

And if it is immature, will the potency of the SP be really weak?

It is the one on the far left

it's probably more firm at the top of the cutting because that's where it's more hydrated

what did you use to cut it? you probably had trouble cutting through the woody core. i always used a fine serrated knife and it cuts through easy unless you cut towards the base where the plant is older and the woody core is stronger.

in any case there is nothing to worry about because the plant looks very healthy judging by the photo

i have had top cuts where growth is youngest and it was potent. i personally don't buy the aged/stressing theories.

Cactus is not immature at picture, it's probably dehydrated or something. It's winter time now anyway at northern hemisphere.

I think you don't need to swim swim swim there.. Everyone know what you doing..

Why you have posted lots of threads when you could have ask all things in one thread? Also cactus "preparation" is not part of EG anyway.
