Agar ? - How many xfers before myc is over used?

Ive been reading a book on growing gourmet mushrooms where I came across a small section on how myc becomes for lack of better words "over used/old" after excessive cell divisions... or something along those lines.
Would anyone care to elaborate on this a bit more or even just maybe drop a link where similar discussion had occured? I gave using the search bar a whirl but honestly wasnt sure what to search for this topic in particular...
How many times would you say someone should make xferres off an original plate before the myc suffers from over cell division? 10 plates? 20 plates? And would it be different if it was an isolate as opposed to simly making multiple xfers off a say a multi spore but not really focusing on widdling down to an isolate (im sure that sounds ridiculous but say you just wanted to keep a live culture going for an extended period of time). Would over division cause a decrease in potential potency or flush or is that completly random based on genetics and such...

Well I know that its not recommended to go past 4 or 5 G2G transfers due to the rate and number of cellular divisions, but with plates I believe the number of cell divisions is greatly reduced. I have heard of cloned cultures being kept viable for decades in slants so my best guess is that you could probably get 20 transfers or so before senescence becomes a major issue. I have heard that changing your media can help as well, and as such I have tried to rotate my media as often as is realistic. Interested in what a TC has to say on the subject.

this, but there would/should be no reason to make so many transfers, it's an issue with g2g and not agar work
