I can comfortably leave my hand directly ontop of the plastic and vent..what I've heard is 180 is when it starts getting too hot, is that right? If it was 180 I don't think I'd be comfortable feeling any of it so I feel like this should be ok? If they get to hot, is there any determining factor? Or does it just make them less potent?

Not to hijack, but I've been wondering about this too. I've got a pretty good dehydrator, an Excalibur. I've had it set to the minimum heat setting of 85F (29C). The air coming off the top definitely doesn't feel hot. Probably ok for drying out cyans?

the actives will degrade on what is called a time/temperature curve. For a given temperature, there will be a period of time before a given amount of the compound has degraded [less insulation factors, and plus exposure to enzymes probably present in the mushroom]. for the lower end of high temperatures, the time will be rather longer in a non-linear manner. unless you're getting very warm, in the neighborhood of quite hot, this time is probably quite longer than we like to pretend.

Same same. I set mine to about 110 to get them cracker dry for sure. Works like a charm. I love my Excalibur

I dry mine a bit hotter than 110.
115-120.
I did not notice any loss of potency when I had .75 grams last saturday and my walls were melting. Well, more of a undulating motion.
Twas a great show.

lol. Good to know. I'll set mine a bit higher next time; that way they should dry faster.

Twas a great show.
I watched a video another member posted the other day, and it was really interesting. In short, it was about a study which concluded the either small acute doses or large chronic doses of psilocybin would cause an increase in brain cell production in the hippocampus. So, the most appropriate action now is to take small doses every every once in a while, if your intention is to become smarter, since it is not sustainable to medicate chronically with large doses.

That's interesting. I'd like to see the video. Any clues on how I could find it, e.g., what the thread was about?
I read a thread here about someone micro-dosing. Wasn't a very thorough record of the experience, though. And I don't think increasing brain cells was the motivation there ...

What I get out of this (and possibly a bit exaggerated) is that psilocybyin or other serotonin agonists can help us to learn things like seeing into the future or extrasensory perception, by changing the natural stability levels of serotonin, and by creating more rapid neurogenesis in the hippocampus and cerebellum

Yeah, thanks for that. Interesting video. I didn't get anything about seeing into the future or ESP in there, but it does look like low doses of psilocybin/psilocin can (at least) help people to learn things quicker.
The example was mice being conditioned to associate some kind of stimulus (a sound?) with a small shock on their feet a moment later. These mice soon learn to stand still right after they hear/receive the stimulus (I guess so they won't be scurrying around when the shock comes.) Then when you stop the stimulus-shock association the mice gradually learn that they don't have to stand still after hearing the stimulus. My understanding is that the low regular doses of psilocin help the mice to learn faster that they no longer have to stop after hearing the stimulus.
Sounds like they plan to (try to) do tests on cancer patients since they apparently lose this ability after chemotherapy. Pretty cool.
