I'm sorry but reading the title made me laugh.  The real story is not funny.  Cops always esculate to the 9th degree.  They are not peace officers any more than a dead body is peaceful.  No wonder why people are going on shooting spree's.

I'm not trying to be pedantic, or start an argument with you.  But the rules say articles "regarding drugs in general" are acceptable.  I mean, either tobacco is a drug "in general", or it isn't.  If you'd like to start a discussion about why tobacco is not a drug worth mentioning here, I will certainly listen to what you have to say.  But articles that in any way touch on tobacco certainly regard drugs, and historically have been accepted.  I personally don't think this article is any more of a stretch to be posted here than if it involved a kid whose dad would not buy him meth and his subsequent actions resulted in a bodybag at the hands of the police.

As I said, it is quite a stretch to imagine that this incident had anything to do with the drug war

Stealing a truck over cigarettes, blowing through intersections, running stop lights, ramming cops . . . gets shot

Natural selection in action folks!

Assuming this kid did not have a mental disorder, which his dad would probably have came out with if he did, this kid was a fucking imbecile. He could have easily taken out a carload of people.

While I hat the fact that cops get away with abusing their power on a regular basis, I do not have much sympathy for people that completely disregard the safety of others just because they a throwing a temper tantrum.

I have watched enough Cops on t.v. and seen enough news to know you do not pull that shit unless you have a death wish or are just plain stupid

:doublefacepalm:

Watch the chase video, guys. He could of just pulled the hell over! Way to protest against establishment. That kid put the lives of many in danger. Not to mention theft of a vehicle (felony), vehicular assault (felony), and destruction of property (would of most likely been a felony). If not shot, he would of ended up in prison, and rightfully so. Also note that the officer fired shots AFTER the kid rammed into the police cruiser for the millionth time, the officer stepped out of the car and could of been ran over. I'm NOT saying the kid deserved to die. No innocent by standards deserved to be killed or injured either, and luckily they didn't.

Stupid stunts like this result in bad bad consequences. Would you tell everyone in then neighborhood you're growing actives? Of course not. Would you trip in front of police station? I hope you wouldn't. Would you assault a police officer and think you'd not be assaulted even worse in return? I pray you don't. I feel especially bad for the dad, though. I'd hate to have a kid that stupid.

Yeah, the article is a little biased.

He was actually armed with a big truck.  It's still a shame that this kid died.

Tragic story. Not a second will go by for rest of his life (the Dad) where he doesn't think about that decision. Not a single second.

Yes, but this was all after the chase began, and clearly this kid was all kinds of paranoid and freaking out, which is, well, understandable. What is clear is that the police were not operating under the assumption that this was "teaching a lesson" and the father's decision here was reprehensible. But what's pretty clear is that lethal force was not required. But this still doesn't add up, IMO. Strange story. Was he tweaking?

The police had no obligation to operate under the father's assumption. If the father thought his son would get a slap on the wrist for grand theft auto, he is a fool. Even if he chose not to prosecute the state probably still would have.

Article is super biased, like Trayvon Martin level of biased. Got a much different picture after watching the video.

You're right. This is just a fucked up situation. I don't know enough about law practices or the actually scenario as it played out to determine whether or not lethal force was necessary. It just always, to me, seems like an extreme measure.

Before watching the video I was 100% against the cops, however after watching it, I'm not really sure.. If this kid kept going, he would of surely killed someone the way he was driving. I haven't seen very many people run that hard from the cops and I've seen a lot of police chases over the years..

Circle jerk in here hating on cops.  IMO, this shooting was justified.  If I was a cop and the kid rammed my vehicle I'd've blown his brains out too.

Yep the article is bullshit. Still though it seems like the shooting was probably avoidable. Stay in the cars and wait for backup to arrive in heavier vehicles to block the truck in.

Would it be justified if he ended up taking out an innocent family driving like an angry child who didn't get his own way?

Good on the police officer for diffusing the situation before rational thinking people were killed. Kid knew what the potential outcome was likely to be
