Lactarius rubrilacteus macro

The milk caps are abundant right now, and while I don't like eating them, I really like seeing them. There's just a nice, clean, stout look to them that I appreciate. I'm wondering what the small whitish nodules on the gills could be. Bunched up spores?

Rubrilacteus has red latex.  I'm  betting it's some insect thingy.

And the latex on these is usually really sparse, too. Even when conditions are wetter.

Maybe. But I think its more likely clumps of white spores.

What gets me is how organic they look. Like huge cystidia.

Here's the top of the mushroom

My bet is spores.
