Magic dung?
    #19106395 - 11/08/13 03:57 PM (10 years, 2 months ago)

Pasteurized dung has bacteria that protects from contams (horse or cow, also straw I think)... Does this mean you can work in non sterile environments with it or do you still have to be careful?

I mean, can you literally just dump spores in it, mix it up, and incubate... Or do you have to worry about all the sterile proceedures like on other subs?

You can't just put spores on it. You can just mix colonized grains or BRF cakes though.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I thought dung was used in substrates; you wouldn't put spores directly on a substrate and expect growth.

However, if you had a spawn that was fully colonized, then you could indeed inoculate a pasteurized bulk substrate under open conditions.

Sterile procedure is required when creating the spawn.
