I feel bad for the dad... he just wanted to teach his son a lesson not have him killed. Now he will have to think about how his son is dead over a pack of smokes. Id never call the cops on my sons, but they have enough respect to not steal my stuff.

What a shame. :nonono:

Here is the article:
Quote:

A father’s attempt to teach his son a lesson for taking his truck without permission ended in tragedy Monday after a local police officer shot the teenager dead.

James Comstock told the Des Moines Register he called the police on his son Tyler after the latter took the former’s truck in retaliation for refusing to buy him cigarettes.

Ames Police Officer Adam McPherson reportedly spotted the lawn care company vehicle and pursued it onto the Iowa State University campus, where a brief standoff ensued after Tyler allegedly refused orders to turn off the engine.

McPherson eventually fired six shots into the truck, two of which struck Tyler who was later pronounced dead.

The official report claims the action was necessary in order “to stop the ongoing threat to the public and the officers.”

Tyler’s dad says he was unarmed at the time.

“So he didn’t shut the damn truck off, so let’s fire six rounds at him?” exclaimed Gary Shepley, Tyler’s step-grandfather. “We’re confused, and we don’t understand.”

James said his son had his fair share of minor troubles with the law, and was distraught over a recent breakup with his girlfriend, but was in the process of turning his life around, and was working on obtaining his GED at Des Moines Area Community College.

“He was a smart kid. He made his own computers. He was interested in IT,” James told the Register.

The family’s demands for answers got even louder following the revelation that a member of the Ames police department suggested twice that officers call off the chase.

“He took off with my truck. I call the police, and they kill him,” James said. “”It was over a damn pack of cigarettes.”

McPherson is currently on paid leave pending the results of his department’s investigation.

I can't really work out why they fired at him, or what could have warranted firing at him. That's confusing. That's one of the tricky things about having firearms, really, because although it's obvious, just simply having them makes you much more likely to use them. It creates the possibility that you'll use that firearm when you don't need it. This is a sketchy story. Sounds exactly like murder.

They get away with murder all the time. Might get fired but thats about it unless its proven premeditated. Police here have kill several people on some bullshit. On the news one day and and swept under the rug the next day.

How the fuck can you blame the federal government for the actions of some college-town cop?

Did anyone listen to the audio? The kid rammed a op vehicle, dumped a trailer and blew stop lights. I'm usually all for coming down hard on cops when they fuck up, but this kid was acting reckless as shit. I don't think he deserved to die, but its not like he was just sitting in a car refusing to get out.

What does this have to do with the drug war?

Wrong section . . .

There are a certain percentage of cops out there who join the force because they want to kill someone.  I won't speculate what the percentage is, but I know that whenever I have to deal with police for any reason I feel like I am in serious danger.

The article doesn't say he was driving recklessly, and all he did was not turn off the truck.  It sure sounds like the truck was not even in motion when he opened fire.  In fact, most departments forbid firing at a fleeing vehicle due to danger to the public.  There was no danger to the officer here.  He just wanted to kill someone, or maybe had a fit of rage at someone disobeying him.  So, like you said un-known-ome, yep, it's murder.  And what does the officer get?  Paid leave and an "investigation" lead by his fraternity brothers who have already decided the outcome and don't care about the facts.

I wasn't referring to the drug trade. I was basicly saying the police can pretty much do what they want. Government, police, and military are intertwined now.. a police state. Competition meaning anyone who questions their authority.
