mix a 5% solution with water.  Yes it's caustic but at 5 % you can get it on you and its not the end of the world.  I use an empty contact solution bottle for mine.  Then you can apply drops to your specimen.  It's important to try it on all parts of your mushroom.

Mine is mixed at 4% already. Empty contact bottle is a great idea.

Thanks for the info RD.

So, what kind of a reaction are you looking for?  Color change, how it breaks down?

Next is the suspected allenii

Habitat: under a small fern, with a fine saw dust like wood mulch

Gills: The gill color is white. The gills are attached.

Stem: white, pretty thick, look fibrous.

Cap: Brown almost red(or vice versa), smooth, very tiny.

Spore print color: N/A.

Bruising: No color change was observed, waiting for more mature results.

Location: In a shipment of landscape materials believed to have originated in an Oregon nursery.

I will put out a better effort at making prints and adding more info to this post tomorrow if needed.

They look like baby galerina to me, but I'm no expert. The stems don't look white in the picture.

btw, thanks for posting here instead of the PNW actives thread.

You can see a little orange annulus on one of them.

I dunno 'bout taxonomy or what percentages solutions are supposed to be leveled out at, but when I get a drop or two squeezed out of an eye-dropper bottle, I expect drastic color-changes! (tongue-in cheek smiley... )

damn... I thought the "discussion" thread would be less serious...

although I do appreciate the information...

That last post was meant totally in jest to those who've eaten liquid LSD...

Maybe it just didn't translate well to print?

Amanita muscaria var. guessowii?
