Potential Monotub Problem?
    #19105197 - 11/08/13 11:40 AM (10 years, 2 months ago)

Hey all,

I spawned a 66 qt mono with 5 qts WBS, 8 quarts loose coir, and 3 quarts verm a little over two weeks ago. The tub colonized in about a week and has now been in fruiting for 9 days. The tub is being stored underneath a desk, which I know is not ideal, but I'm not sure that that is what is causing my issue. The polyfill is stuffed tight in the bottom 4 holes and very loose in the top 2 holes. I have a fan on low pointed indirectly at the tub and provide direct 6500k light 12/12 a day. When I checked the tub this morning it seems as though there is some sort of white powder covering the top of the substrate. Can anyone tell me what the powder is and why I haven't seen pins yet?

The strain is P. Cubensis and the variety is Ecuador for anyone interested.

The walls of my tub as well as the substrate itself seem slightly dryer on the side of that is closest to the fan, could this all be due to too much FAE causing low RH?

Any advice or information would be greatly appreciated!
This is my first mono and I want fruits! :mushroom2::mushroom2:

Thanks and have a good day,
Sgt

things to watch for is a nice dry ring around your polly and beads of moisture on the suface and a nice build up of condensation, if your a little behind of all the above you may be geting too much fae

It was just within the past day that it started too look dry. Before today, I did see the dry rim around the holes, beads of moisture on the surface of the sub, and streaks of condensation down the side. However, it did begin to puddle a little so I readjusted the fan, but I guess I gave it too much FAE this time. Do you think that if I fix the FAE, the white powdery look will go away? Also, is it normal to not see pins after 9 days of being in fruiting?

I thought that knots were larger than that? It seems as though there is a lot more dots there than you would get knots in a typical tub. Nonetheless, I am still a novice. If those are knots then I'm gonna be one happy camper, although I'll feel quite foolish.

You better get your dunce cap because you're about to see some pins. Keep doing what you're doing.

If you have this you're straight. Tub looks great, knotting up nicely!
