St. John's Wort - your experience?

Using some St. John's Wort atm and it seems to be working on the first day, it's in a form that I only take once daily.
It's apparently able to cause psychotic relapse but so far so good (first day LOL)
Either that or I miraculously improved my mood by laying on the couch like an invalid (for the first half of the day, before taking the supplement).
Anyone else think this is a pretty good little supplement? What's your experience?
I'm using it for mood by the way.

The standardized stuff works. It does increase sensitivity to light, I have to wear shades when I'm on it. I've heard you have to take a supplement for a couple weeks before it really kicks in.

Two herbalists in a shop independently told me that the New Chapter brand was a very high quality product. One said it was my best option for depression and then another day I asked another employee if she had heard any feedback about it and she said that one customer gave glowing feedback and bought three cases of it shortly after buying a bottle.
St. John's Wort extract is a broad spectrum inhibitor of neurotransmitter uptake.

Cool, good news then.
I think however maybe I have been habouring a bit of a bitterness towards past figures which I sort of finally got over today, so this makes it a bit difficult to judge... I feel really great but it wasn't until I sat out there on the front porch and sort of went, wait, why the fuck am I still sad about that?
So yeah.
Luff you guise.

Describe how you feel St. John's Wort. What brand do you use, by the way?

It feels like the extreme melancholy I tend to have and the anxious feeling have cleaned up a bit. So I'm not high by any means but I feel like when I do things there is a bit of purpose and drive behind them. I am taking twice what the box recommends by the way. My thoughts or kind of like my body won't just give up on every task. This is the third day taking twice the recommended dosage.
Using Nature's Way.
I've been on some antidepressants and had that hopeful placebo effect before and this seems pretty real.

How many capsules are you using?
Also, do you know why certain substances don't work instantly? What would you say is the minimum amount of days for SJW?

4 tablets.
I barely understand the science behind it. I guess I understand the brain doesn't shuffle its chemistry all that quickly in response to these things. It's supposed to be an SSRI and typical SSRIs take weeks and months to change the brain.
But maybe it's not an SSRI? In fact I think I read it's probably a MAOI. It may also work in other ways in the body since it's supposed to decrease irritability and some other problems.
Or is it a blood levels thing?
It has been best today. It wasn't as good on the first day.

It's neither. I posted a 189-page document in my first post. This document says it's a "broad spectrum inhibitor of neurotransmitter uptake."
I started a thread on Bluelight asking about the mechanism behind "long term" drugs and it's already gotten some great responses so far: http://www.bluelight.ru/vb/threads/699334-How-come-certain-drugs-(i-e-antidepressants)-take-days-weeks-before-they-work?p=11943140#post11943140

Tried it a couple of years ago, I gave it about a month and then gave up.
I do remember one particular day about 2 weeks in where I woke up feeling better than I could remember feeling in aaages. For no particular reason. I even got out of bed straight up instead of lying there for half an hour like every other morning in my life.
Thought that could be relevant anyway since it might have been to do with the St. John's Wort.

Yeah pretty much. I feel like I may have missed taking them a few days here and there between then and when I stopped though.
But yes, I stopped because they didn't seem to be doing anything.
