No.
Also, I'd like to point out is that you ARE NOT CHANGING YOUR BLOOD pH. At best you're changing the pH of your piss (which can help prevent kidney stones from forming)
But... there really isn't a whole lot of evidence that an alkaline heavy diet is even beneficial aside from that, really. There could be, but its hard to pinpoint such things.
Your pH is regulated entirely by your body and I think its like 7.3 pH.. just SLIGHTLY alkaline. I know it can go up a bit more, but not much higher than that.

does this go for any acidic foods or drink?
No it does not apply to any acidic foods or drinks.
But lemon juice and apple cider vinegar are both very healthy to eat and both promote a state of alkalinity.

Check if your city flouridates water. If they do then you dont want to drink it. Even if they dont flouridate they probably chlorinate you water, and you dont want to be drinking either flouride or chlorine. Most tap water also contains human hormones, estrogen, pharmaceutical and industrial byproducts.

Quote:
Fluoride is not added to drinking water in the HSY region. The fluoride content of drinking water produced from surface water is about 0.1 mg/l, which is a minimal level in terms of dental benefits. According to the Decree of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health Relating to the Quality and Monitoring of Water Intended for Human Consumption, the maximum allowable fluoride content in drinking water is 1.5 mg/l.
Quote:
Water treatment plants add bound chlorine to the water to ensure that its microbiological quality remains good in the water supply network. The amount of chlorine added to tap water is about 0.35–0.5 mg/l. Chlorine is consumed in the water supply network, and the content decreases gradually.
Chlorine keeps better in cold than hot water. Due to this, the chlorine content is often higher in the winter than in the summer. In the Helsinki Metropolitan Area, the total chlorine content in tap water is usually about 0.03–0.5 mg/l.

it's all fine for you, but in principle it's kinda shabby. you can have a better water supply, just depends, what are the priorities? probably not in spending money for helpful things, because... it costs money, and we want to make more money, for cars... and cheeseburgers.

Yeah I suppose we're lucky then, I've always had access to clear/good quality tap water, and sometimes I forget that it's not the same everywhere..

Its great that there is no flouride added to your water. That makes it OK to drink in my opinion. However if you take your tap water and boil it down until it evaporates you will see a sand-like residue left in the glass when all the water has boiled away. That is a mishmash of things you dont want to ingest but which you drink in each glass of water. Try it sometime and then eat the sand like residue with a spoon. If you can't bring yourself to eat that sandy residue, you dont want to be drinking tap water.

well, yeah, but still... the small things that might not have any effects in the short term, might have effects in the long term, and it's better to be safe then sorry, as the saying goes.
so just ignoring facts, might be useful in the short term, because it might not be important in the short term... in the long term spectrum of effects however...

Pwn, lots of tap water is full of icky shit. Several people in my grandparents town have become very sick from drinking it
It's going to depend on where you are though. I prefer bottled to tap any day regardless

Like I said, you need to find out if your water has flouride added. If it does not have added flouride, it is ok but not optimal to drink. If flouride is added, it is not safe to drink. There are different kinds of flouride that they add to water in different places, some much worse than others, but you should not drink any flouridated water. I will drink unflouridated tap water without concern though. Even so distilled water or reverse osmosis water with lemon is much more optimal and delicious.

waht's the point?
http://www.cancer.org/cancer/cancercauses/othercarcinogens/athome/water-fluoridation-and-cancer-risk
here. i'll keep posting more, because this won't be sufficiant.
besides, like i said, this isn't the issue here... it's the principle that's the issue. you want your water treatment to be as GOOD AS POSSIBLE, not just OK.
and guess what it isn't as good as it could be. so lets fuckin argue about it.

that's not gonna stop him from requesting studies on particulars that effect him personally. otherwise, he's just gonna go "blahblahblah" about it...
