Joust identified them as Cortinarius vanduzerensis on another thread.

Those kinda have the right coloring, but the proportions aren't right for a cyan.  For one thing, I wouldn't expect the stem of a cyan to be that thick relative to the cap width, and cyan stems are more uniform in width from top to bottom, and the gills on yours are too rusty-brown colored for a cyan, ... and cyans don't have that lavender-white coloring in the stem.  Once you do start finding them you'll get an intuitive feel for how they look.  Problem is, you gotta find some first ... kinda chicken and egg-ish...

yes many many times. There are multiple cortinarius with purple stems like this. To tell you exactly which one would be difficult.

Whoever told you "yes" is completely wrong. Ive also seen P. cyanescens thousands of times they are nothing like your mushrooms.

Radley,

They are absolutely not an active mushroom, and pretty much absolutely Cortinarius. They look completely different to actives. You should do some more research.

Positive.  If I were you I'd never ever take advice from those people again.  They could get you poisoned with their misinformation.  The trusted identifiers on here don't just get that tag because they are someone's buddy, it's because they are the best at what they do on this site.  Trust the mycologist, it's what they do.

There are many poisonous species of cortinarius. some even deadly.

I dont know about your mushrooms because i dont know what species, but i dont think ive ever heard of an edible cortinarius species.

There is no species of mushroom that bruises purple.  The stipe is purplish colored and you might see what looks like little orange hairs on the upper part of the stipe.  That is cortina gathering spores, which are orangy rusty colored.

This is a good picture to see some orange spore deposits on the upper to mid stipe.  There are a lot of cortinarius species, and a whole lot of them look much like this.  They are very easy to ID, and there is no mistake that they are Cortinarius, toxic, and inedible.

Yeah, that one does look quite white (although there is a bit of light purple coloring at the base)  I was more basing that on the description of the species that the TI suspected it to be, and the top shroom in the photo you posted above, which does have a lot of purple coloring on the stem.

(Oh, thanks Jet Li for pointing out that the brown color in the middle is the spore deposits on the veil remnants.  I wouldn't have known that.)

Keep hunting OP -- you'll find 'em!

For sure not a cyan go tell whoever told you it is to also get educated. It really is the difference between life and death. Orange spores big no no. Cyanescens will always be purple.
