I love this idea.

I found pelliculosa to be reasonably easy to find, and had long beleived they were far more common than the frequency of finds I knew of would suggest.

Years past, we would get one or a handful of posts of them in a given year, and I felt that it was due to far too few people bothering to look for them.

How many posts have we had of them in even the last two weeks? We could fill a whole long thread with pages and pages of pelliculosa if you guys cared to, nearly every year.

BTW: do you get really wet knees when you look for them?

Wet knees for sure.... Fun little guys to find...
Have some photos in my gallery of years gone past... Even my profile pic is one.

Looking at various pictures posted on here, make me believe in Washington there are several variation in the species.

Have also found Galerina sp. Growing amongst them... Make sure you check and double check every mushroom...

They are sort of the near beer of psilocybin mushrooms though... Still, plentiful to find and makes a good tea....

Peace

Gyms are really the near beer of psilocbian mushrooms. and somewhat Pan. cinctulus.

At least with enough pelliculosa you can eventually get a full-blown psychedelic experience. With the latter two, much as I like to tell myself otherwise, it rarely seems to get more than 'most of the way there'.

Absolutely. Often nearly identical as well, apart from the vaguely paler nature of the Galerina, and the mature gill color.

The veils have a fairly different look in the pins..  The pellicle is easy too.

Some woodland Galerina in the PNW have a differentiated pellicle which is gelatinous and at least somewhat seperable. I do not know what, or which species they are, but they are not rare.

I think I found those once very close to some pelliculosa.  The pellicle did not come off extreamly easily in large pieces though.

They grow in such large numbers and have such a low potency that it is easy to throw out any in question though.  From what I have read pelliculosa is weaker than P. cinctulus.  Are you saying this isn't true?  I have gotten pretty good results from 5 grams dry cinctulus.  Havn't tried the pellis yet.

Did it come off in thin, pie-wedge shreds? I've come across some like those often also.

Right, but try collecting enough pelliculosa to dry out to 5 grams. That can be a full day's work, even when you've found a largish population of them.

Yes, sounds about right. I cannot differentiate, between the different Galerinas at all though.  I just noticed that some varieties had a thin pellicle.

I have about 45 dry grams in a bag right now.

Nor can I. My understanding of Galerina goes: G. marginata group, Small petite woodland species on twigs, Small petite species on moss, nop.

I should learn though. It could be interesting.

there are 2 of what i believe to be galerina of some kind on the bottom pic of the plate in the bottom left, i'm gonna take some comparison shots the next time i'm out because there right side by side and your right even down to the pellicule they look so close other the the other species is more red, and for pellies i'e found a full ice cream bucket(1 gallon)dries to round an ounce:headbang3: but there better for tea as chewing enough to get high is just too much chewing lol

Is the dosage on Joust's guide about right though?  About a 4th or 5th the potency of Ps. cyanescens?

What would it be comparable to?  I usually go for about a gram dry of cyanescens.

i couldn't really think of anything to compare it too, other then the high was very similar to the buzz i got off gymnopilus luteoviridis
