Grain to grain troubleshooting?

I was going to do some brf cakes, but I'm deciding to go for a bulk grow instead. But I don't have enough spawn so I'm doing a g2g transfer to quart jars to make more. The half pint jars colonized fine with no contaminants, but after transferring them a lot of the jars have contaminants.
What's the step in the process where they're most likely to get contaminants introduced? I pressure cooked the jars, sterilized the spoon, and did the transfer inside a glovebox. It's my first time trying this and I'm not sure what other precautions I can take.

You just can't really use BRF cakes for G2G. The verm filter, and the way you have to get it out to break it up pretty much prevents it.

So I should just throw the cakes directly into the coir instead? How many 1/2 pints jars would it take to colonize a brick of coir? I've seen different numbers.

That and you shouldnt put anything in your spawn jars. By using a spoon, you could just be pushing contams into the spawn.

crush your consolodated cakes up in a ziploc bag into little pieces.
then mix 50/50 with coir and verm thats been pasturized properly.
put the mixture in dish/pan of some kind then cover with tin foil and
poke a couple toothpick holes in the tin foil. Check on it in 10 days.
just my idea lol

You should just fruit them as cakes, like they're intended to be.

it would take like 20 or 24 half pint cakes to spawn to a single coir brick. thats roughly a 1:2 spawn:substrate ratio... if you did have that many fully colonized cakes and a brick of coir, maybe some verm, you could make a 48qt monotub. then i would take prints from that monotub and order petri plates and go buy agar so at anytime you can swipe spores from your prints on agar and have a culture going in 2 weeks to make grain masters and culture slants from. just print every most recent grow.
g2g must be performed from a fully colonized grain jar, because you can break the jar of colonized grains up into individual pieces by banging on the jar, then iso wipe every crevice of the jar, set the wiped down jar into a SAB with 9-10 sterilized jars of prep'd grains with slightly loosened lid bands, you'll see why. let the air in the SAB settle for a bit and dont make any wind-disturbing movements.
bring a pair iso wiped down tyvek arms/gloved hands slowly and swiftly into the SAB, open the colonized 'grain master' and swiftly set its lid down, then carefully, swiftly but quickly proceed to opening the lid of a sterlized jar with one hand, while at the same time pouring just a bit of the 'grain master' into it with your other hand. quickly make the transfer, seal the lid and move onto the next jar in a steady fluid movement. repeat underlined sentence for each jar until process is done
go to http://www.mushroomvideos.com and watch the section on g2g he does it in front of a flowhood but i described it being done in a SAB... what i would do to get multiple brf cakes going is take very clean spore prints and make them into as clean syringes as possible and hit the cakes up. very easy to make clean spore syringes it can be done without a PC and i prefer to you all without a PC to take prints and make syringes for future cakes.

Lol no wonder I can't get it....I need to research how to do slowly and swiftly in the same action.
