pf tek south american grow log (pins)

11-7-13 I have 6 brf+ verm jars in my pressure cooker sterilizing right now
I also have 6 jars in my fridge ready to sterilize
I used 2-1-1 ratio of verm-bobs brown rice flour-water
I'am sterilizing the prepared jars in my pressure cooker at 15 psi for 40 mins.
I plan to inoculate the first set of jars tonight after they cool in my still air box with a syringe of south american spores and the second set tomorrow morning
I will update with info and pics as often as I can I will try to be as detailed as possible
Any tips, info & positive vibes are greatly appreciated
11-11-13 i inoculated 12 jars 11 with dry verm on top and one without in my still air box. i have them sitting on a shelf getting a lil light from a window behind them

11-15-13 i noticed the first signs of mycelium growing today on several jars

11-17-13 8/12 jars are doing good 4 of the jars have no mycelium yet though

11-21-13 my jars are doing great still no sign of mycelium growth in four of them though. The mycelium on several of the jars is growing nice and stringy kinda like tree branches

11-25-13
8/12 are doing really good mycelium is spreading 4/12 jars are showing small amounts of mycelium towards the top of the jar dry verm layer is falling down side of jars in areas.

note: Jar with foil on top has no dry verm layer but is the jar that is furthest along. Next pf tek i do iam going to inoculate at 4 points instead of 2. And iam going to tilt the jar slightly so the spores drop to the bottom of jar against the glass.
11-25-13

11-27-13 i rotated the jars 90 degrees so you could see the mycelium progression

11-28-13

11-29-13

11-30-13

I think im gonna throw the top four cakes out if they dont show any significant progress by the time i throw these in my sgfc. That will give them a week or two to catch up to the others. Im supposed to get a home depot card tomorrow from a friend to buy some supplies for doing some monotubs so i can try my hand at bulk
12-1-13
several of the cakes are almost 100% colonized

12-3-13 The 3 jars on the left are a 100% colonized and the bottom 5 on the right just have the bottom left to colonize the top 4 on the right are still really lagged behind though

12-5-13 several of the other jars are near a 100% percent probably will be done by tomorrow and the stalled jars are showing good signs of growth

12-6-13 Another 5 jars are done colonizing so they are consolidating now

One of the jars that is done colonizing has some invitro pins
 12-8-13 7 jars consolidating 5 jars colonizing
Here the first jar that had invitro pins. The pins have grown significantly

Another jar that is 100% colonized has shown some unique pins.

And this jar could have a contam or possibly what i think to be a blob pin with no cap.

Update* I birthed 2 of my cakes with the bigger pins they are show a lil bruising
I have them sitting submersed in a gallon ziploc storage bag filled with room temp faucet water in a dark cabinet

12-9-13
I got the two cakes i birthed and dunked in my sgfc right now

Heres my other jars i probably will birth, dunk and roll a few more cakes tomorrow

12-10-13 i decided to birth the rest of my jars that are colonized because they all show signs of pinning so i ended up birthing the rest of the cakes that are colonized and there were no strange smells so that's a good sign i have them soaking now
The one jar without a dry verm layer had tons off fluffy mycelium

here is the other 4 jars that are still colonizing

12-11-13
so i dunked and rolled six more cakes and they are in my sgfc right now pins are showing

My other four jars that are colonizing

one of them is pinning and the bottom still hasn't fully colonized

12-12-13 8 cakes in my sgfc i mist 3 times a day and fan 6 times a day the sgfc is in room that is about 75 degrees Fahrenheit
my other 4 cakes are still colonizing one has several small pins but still has a strip left on the bottom to colonize

12-13-13 Friday the 13th my mushies are getting big should i get a few from this flush for printing and can someone recommend a tek for getting some good prints

12-14-13 Here a pic of my cakes i picked a few mushies that's veil broke and put another cake in

Here is my other threes jars they are almost done colonizing

I attempted to take a print not the best results but still a print. I have two jars with foil prepped and ready for prints ill try and get a cap that's flatter and try to cut the stem a little closer to the cap next time

I would PC them for at least 60 minutes, if not 90, just to be safe.

If you cooked them for 60M or more at 15psi you can use them a few days later no problem

This is an especially good idea for those who've had problems with substrates stalling due to compaction issues. Get it colonized first--although often you get a streak all the way down the side when inoculating this way, and that's ideal.

It's suggested in the BRF/pf tek part of lets grow mushrooms. It's never to late to watch that.
